Speed dropping
« on: September 11, 2023, 08:16:56 PM »
I’m using a 2012 Honda Jazz Hybrid 1.3 CVT, when I’m on S Mode everytime when i brake my car to a stop the speed kept dropping to M1 like when i’m on M4 I brake my car, the speed drops to M3 M2 to M1 so fast and my engine starts making revving sound when i press the gas..is this normal? Or is there something wrong with my gearbox?

Not sure about Mk2, but for the Mk3 there is an S mode and when you press one of the flappy paddle shifters it goes into 7 preset gears (hence M1, M2 etc.). When in this manual mode, it will automatically downshift when speeds drops too low for the given gear. It will not upshift; you have to do that by using the paddles.

So did you activate manual instead of S somehow? Just to be sure. And also S mode does allow more rpm than D, to make it respond faster.

Yes i did activate the manual mode every time when I drive in S mode, so its normal for the manual speed to drop from like for example M5 gear speed to to M1 gear speed when braking to a stop or slowing down?

Yes that is normal. It is like in a manual car; you cannot pull away from a full stop in 4th or 5th gear. So it automatically goes to M1 after each stop and when slowing down it might downshift depending on the rpm. Mk3 would not go lower than 1100 rpm and would downshift to prevent that.
