Parcel shelf and rear seat gap?
« on: February 27, 2024, 08:35:43 PM »
Guys, just wondering, today I bought second hand parcel shelf, and wondering why there is big gap between rear seat and shelf itself? is there any way for rear seat to move back a bit, to make more comfy?  And i miss shelf hook, any ideas where to get them or some DIY to make one?

The rear seats have two positions.  I  think  you have them  in the forward position.  If  you undo  the catch,  they go  back to meet the parcel  shelf.

Hi There, The catch is what lets the back rest lay flat onto the seat.
So if you pull on the catch then at the same time, push
back rest further back then release catch. No more gap
Like the previous person said there are 2 back rest postions.
                              Hope that helps Henry

Thanks for the answer , I will go ahead and try to do that now. I tried pushing with hand before but no luck.

No luck, the plastic cover where latch of the seat is placed is short. I tried to seat down on the rear seat and raise the plastic latch and push back, but the seat locking in same position :(

Just found out that there is different latch for Honda jazz, maybe mine did not come with that option, see third photo

Seems that the adjustable backrest is only for the upper trims. I have the mid trim one and were also puzzled by that shelf gap. The casing for the stopper studs looks clearly muted halfways. Have to deal with those silly fabric buttoned flaps. Stoopid ask me.

Not sure what specification has the adjustable rear backrest. I have a Jazz Ex with glass roof, Cruise control and radio controls on the steering wheel but there is no adjustable rear backrest (it is either up or down).

Also mine is executive plus, but I guess it does not have that option. I will try to fit narrow type bracket, or simple cut the old one and weld again to make recline.

Maybe this is the answer

Whats your main concern. The angle of the seat back, or the parcel shelf gap?

Personally I  have never found reclining seats  in a car (or on an aeroplane, ) a great improvement in comfort and  for me  wouldnt be worth  welding, replacement brackets etc.  Certainly not for passengers.  If they dont like it they can walk   :P

If you just want to fill the gap there may be easier ways.   Maybe the brush type of draught excluders you can fit along the bottom of doors between the parcel shelf and  seat back.
Trust a dog to guard your house  , but not your sandwich
