Alarm when opening the door

I have had my Jazz (1.3 ex CVT) from new 2017. In the last few weeks I have a ‘problem’ that I have never experience before – I unlock the door via keyless entry and as soon as I open it there is some kind of alarm/dinging noise. As soon as I start the engine it stops.  Similarly when I stop and switch off the engine I get this alarm noise until I get out of the car and close the door then it goes off. Everything is OK when driving so no big deal but was wondering why this should have just started to do after more that 7 years. Anyone know what’s going on ?

What you describe is very similar to what the handbook says should happen if you unlock the car with the key. That is, using the physical key apparently doesn't disable the security alarm, which will sound until you turn the key in the ignition. That seems a bit odd to me, but that's what the handbook says. But if you're using the keyless facility that shouldn't happen. Clutching at straws here, but I wonder whether the battery in your key fob might be discharged sufficiently that it unlocks the doors but doesn't send the "disable the alarm" signal? Maybe try changing the battery in the fob, probably a CR 2016 or 2032, widely available?

Thank you Colin. I changed the battery in my two fobs three or four months ago but just tried the other one just in case and it is just the same. Either it was duff batteries or it is something else.
Something else I have noticed is when I open the boot with the keyless fob the alarm does not go off.

It sounds like the lights on alarm. What position is the light switch in? Auto?

I have now isolated the problem to the drivers side door only, the alarm does not sound when entering the car from passenger side door or either of the back seat doors.
p.s Light switch is on auto and seems to work fine.

Assuming we're talking about the security alarm (ie horn sounds and indicators flash) rather than some other alarm, it sounds like there is a sticky or faulty courtesy light switch on the driver's door. Does the interior light operate normally when you open the door? If it does when you open the passenger door, but not the driver's door, then it may be the switch.

It is not the security alarm Colin, just a steady ding-ding-ding sound. I am wondering if it could be a faulty door lock sensor on the driver side door.

There is a warning noise (handbook calls it a buzzer) if the keyless fob is removed from the car without switching it off properly. Handbook p.164 refers. Doesn’t quite fit your description, but worth checking?

Thank you Colin, I have tried that and it does not seem to be the problem. The mystery remain. Everything seems to be working fine so I think I will just leave it until my service is due and then mention it to them.
