Very jealous that you are all enjoying your new HU.

What tools did you need to get the existing HU out and fit in the new one in? Currently I only own a Philips screwdriver  :'(
A Philips screwdriver & brute force is all you need!

I don’t really see any gaps where I would wedge in a Philips screwdriver - what was the entry point for the screwdriver?

You won't see any screws until you remove the dash clock surround and the centre air vents. Please watch the first 2 minutes 40 seconds of this video which shows you how to do that.

After removing those items this will expose 2 screws at the top of the radio, the 3rd screen is accessed from underneath on the right hand side of the radio, there are a few YouTube videos showing you how to access it.

After removing the 3 screws the radio is pulled out toward you, it requires quite a lot of force, don't be worried you won't break anything.

A few photos of my front and rear dashcam install. Having driven around in the Jazz, have noticed a lot of people do drive really close to the rear, maybe that is down to the visibility which means they're not actually as close as it appears but having a rear camera is quite nice for reassurance!

Greetings from Portugal.

First of all, I want to thank the user UKjim for the tips and explanations he provided and who encouraging me to change my head unit.

I chose a cheaper model because I didn't want to spend so much. I bought a 6 GB/128 GB head unit that cost €138, but I got a discount, and it only cost €111.
When it arrived, I could get everything working except the OEM camera. I then ordered a Canbus adapter, and the OEM camera works perfectly.
Android Auto works very well with and without a USB cable, but since everything works fine on the HU (Waze, Spotify, Maps...), I stopped using Android Auto.
I made two videos. I'll post more as soon as possible.

Well done and a great job. For 111 EUR I am impressed, HU seems very responsive.

Thanks for sharing the videos too.

Yes, HU is very responsive.

Here is another video. I installed CarWebGuru Car Launcher:

https://youtu.be/FUNbomI8OYE

After purchasing it, I read that many units sold on Aliexpress are altered to present incorrect data regarding the processor and memory. When it arrived, I installed the AIDA64 app to confirm the data, and everything is correct (except the Android version which HU says is 14, but AIDA64 says it is 10)

Joying users still enjoying their HU? Thought it’s a good time to check in as I will be replacing the OEM HU by end of summer (it’s either Joying or something else that I can buy from UK).

Your unit is so much more responsive than mine! I payed 160 and honestly I feel scammed - it didnt even came with canbus so I had to ask extra for it (the promise of utilising the steering wheel button was a lie without the canbus)

Good buy - I would love to buy the Joying one but way too expensive at the moment and they dont do the mold for having the emergency lights and airbag cover visible at the same time :(

Hi all, great thread! Looking to upgrade my head unit, and had a couple of questions.

Firstly, is it worth paying the extra £30~ for 8GB RAM vs 4GB for the joying unit?

Also been looking around at potentially other android units, and a lot of people have suggested you won’t get mpg data and parking sensor data through android units - but obviously someone mentioned that’s not the case for the joying unit. So is this something noting specifically have done? Or should all modern (up to date) android units also support this stuff ok?

Last question (sorry!), is anyone able to list the adapters that are recommended to get along with the android unit like the joying - as there’s been mentions of dab radio connectors and usb ones. Just wanted to confirm how I can keep my Jazz as factory as possible  ;D

Thank you all very much!

Can only speak for the Joying which has full support for the parking sensors on the android screen & rear camera if you have it. It does provide some trip/ fuel info but I can’t say I’ve ever looked at it.

Joying provides a plug ‘n play loom other than an adapter to use the Honda loom GPS aerial connection which you will have even if your car does not have NAV, the adapter is readily available online.

If you want to use DAB then you need to buy a DAB USB receiver widely available on AliExpress for around £20-£25. There is a problem with the DAB aerial as no adapter can be found that connects the adapter to the Honda DAB connector. There are 3 possible solutions

1. Forget DAB

2. Use an alternative aerial such as a windscreen mount.

3. Cut off the Honda connector and solder a  female  Fakra connector to the loom and then make a Fakra male to SMB connector to the DAB receiver. Please note the DAB aerial wire in the loom is very delicate and thin and you need to be a bit of a soldering expert for this job.

... people have suggested you won’t get mpg data and parking sensor data through android units -...

The OEM unit is an android unit (albeit a very old version) and does all the audio stuff, but it also integrates with the car to present certain non-audio functions (eg parking sensors, trip/mpg, clock adjustment, etc). So I think the issue with replacement units is that they may be compatible (in the sense that they fit in the car), but may not fully integrate with the car. Some, but not all, of the "missing" functions also appear on the RH multi-function display. Decide what you really want (and what you can do without), and read the specs carefully!

Thanks for the replies. Yeah the joying sounds promising to me - bit of a shame the display doesn’t have a higher resolution available though :/. And a shame there’s no simple dab solution, but there are options - so I’m fine with that.

And yeah the compatibility sounds like more than what I was expecting, so I’m fine with that - and guessing because the old unit was on android too, it’s likely other new android units may have the functionality from the oem unit too.

But yh Im keeping a keen eye on specs, but there’s not a huge amount of detail on some of the other android units regarding the Jazz specifically… makes me edge towards the joying unit, knowing people here have had good success with it.

Curious if there is anyone else on here who’s tried other alternative android units (I’d be keen to know if the 8GB and higher res screens are worth it?!)

I find 4gb more than adequate, it has 64gb storage so unless you are going to bombard it with Apps it’s more than enough.

Screen quality is excellent, way better than the OEM unit.
