As others have reported, the recent low ambient temperatures have had a marked effect on my mpg. Current tankful has only done 180 miles so far and mpg is showing as 50.5 (Trip A). However, Trip B still shows 61.2 over 6,000 miles since new in September 2021. I keep a spreadsheet of mileage/litres and this currently calculates an average since new of 59.43 mpg. I'm happy with that, seeing as most of my journeys are short shopping trips with stop/starts in between, and the occasional trip around 30 miles.

Just filled up today. Didn't really need to but had a nectar points offer for Esso Supreme. MPG now down to 49.5 on this last tank (real as opposed to computer).

This was the 5th refuelling this year. In fact I could quite easily have made that 4 without ever getting to the squeaky bum stage. I'm on less than 2000 miles a year now. At my age I won't need another car.

Latest fill added to history.

Cold weather motorway run included.

Overal mpg remaining reasonably stable.

Since filling up at the end of December, my Trip B average has struggled to keep above 40mpg. Unfortunately I am mainly doing very short journeys (shopping), so I don't expect it to improve any time soon.

I tend to bump along at about 45 (ish) during the winter. I do mainly shopping trips but my mpg seems a bit better than yours - this is almost certainly because I often go the long way round to the shops just to keep the battery charged up!

Why not apply a linear scale to the X-axis?

Can do when I find time but would make spreadsheet unnecessarily large.

will transpose for your benefit to alternate

My latest update to history. Looks like evening out for summer running around the 54.41 level.

Last fill included a trip of 150 miles each way with many miles in highland single track B roads. Including a descent of 20.9 degrees average from 240 metres to 27 metres above sea level, not a nice noise from transmissiom when coasting on this slope.

Have you ever considered logging your mileage at e.g. https://www.spritmonitor.de and simply make it part of your signature?

"spritmonitor" - if properly maintained - may give some interesting insights like consumption according to driving style / tyre choice / driving profile / AC usage / fuel type for instance

No. take a note on spreadsheet alongside fill ups of any significant change to factors that may affect mpg.

Just looked at spirit website, too much trackers involved.

[sorry - off-topic!]

Thank you for your reply!

Believe me, I'm bordering "paranoid" regarding online trackers!

On www.spritmonitor.de I see only the infamous googletagmanager (where as on clubjazz.org there are at least addthis.com and the paramount googlesyndication.com sites)

so, I do not quite follow your concerns, since you are a member of this forum and prefer to avoid spritmonitor.de

Have you yet considered something like NoScript/? - It would give you back some choice about what your browser loads.

If you are of the more "adventorous" type and don't mind to do some bit-wrestling, Pi-hole might be an option for you. Trust me: There is more...  :D

Take care!
