Although I like to drive fast, I'm far from the Flying Finns and other famous Finnish rally drivers. I'm a family man with an engineering background, just as many Jazz owners in this forum. And I'm living in countryside in southern Finland, which has much milder, i.e. less arctic climate than Lappland.

The vehicle number plate you see in my photos is altered for privacy using an image editing tool. The real one is standard Finnish licence plate with three letters and three numbers separated with a center dot. Similar to this sample from the Internet:

whoops  :-[  Nice bit of photoshopping.    My camera  automatically protects my privacy by always showing me as an overweight wrinkly old man.  I cant seem to turn the filter off.

Thanks, and sorry. I don't mean to mislead, just to make it look good. Actually plate Z-7 would not be possible to have on cars, because there has to be two or three letters even in those ridiculously expensive special registration plates. Price nowadays is 900 € (~775 £).

The uk has a whole industry in buying and selling 'cherished number plates. Its easy to transfer them to another car, unless its an age related plate   (the current plates are '72')  that makes an older car look newer than it really is.   But you could  fit a 71 plate to a 72 plate car if you want.
And some people keep their own personal plate for years and transfer it to their next car.  Maybe their initials, or they just like it.

Number plates from very old cars  with few letters and numbers, especially someone initials  can sell for many thousands . Its estimated that the  UK number plate A1 could  sell for £10 million   :o  But regarded as an investment  -maybe next year it would sell for £11 million.

Also popular are number plates that appear to read a word. such as Comic.  (COM 1 C  )    Some people  try to make a number plate read like a word by using  bolts in the wrong place etc.  Its illegal, but they still do it.

Our own DVLA  (Driver and vehicle licencing agency ) have got in on the act.  They wont issue any that look good and sell them them for silly money. Often they auction them to the highest bidder  They also refuse to issue any that apear to read as something rude.

In Finland, if you want to transfer the special plate to your next car, you need to pay that 900 € to registration authorities every time.

Yes, I told you it's ridiculously expensive! It would be nice to get something like JZZ-15 (JaZZ 1.5) or HJ-130 (Honda Jazz 130 hp), but I'm not willing to pay that much for the fun of it.

My car registration is PT71YMC   (its not really, I made it up)     It only costs  £42.44 to legally change  your name by deed poll  in the uk.
So if I changed my  first name  to PT71YMC  I instantly have a private number plate  , and dont even need to pay the £80 transfer fee   ;D.

First names need to obey the Law of the First Names, which gives some basic rules to limit the first names to follow common sense and tradition.

A car near me, back in the 70's, was 130 LOX with the 13 spaced close together :)
Let's be careful out there !
