The computer on my hybrid is 3 to 4 mpg optimistic. eg it says 61 MPG when fuel and mileage measurements indicate 57 MPG. My previous Jazz 1.4 SE was about the same. I had hoped that the hybrid would give me around 20% better mileage but, so far, it's about 13% (based on mileage and fuel). I agree this doesn't justify the extra up-front cost (I'm not a high mileage person) so I have to convince myself that the rest of the benefit is in a smoother driving experience.

To me the hybrid is worth a few £ more, despite the extra weight still more mpg, more acceleration, a lot smoother, nicer dashboard, and good spec too auto lights, wipers, cruise control. At the end of the day its my workplace, I'm in it 8 or more hours a day, and a few nice bits make it a nicer place to be.
