Engine Revs
« on: July 30, 2011, 01:25:59 PM »
Hi,

I have noticed that when changing gear on my EX sometimes the revs are slightly high.

I have tried revving the engine out of gear and I noticed that the revs/tacho drops okay and then holds at 1000rpm for a couple of seconds before it drops to tickover.

Do all Jazz's do this?

Thanks for any advice given.

I think all cars do this to a certain extent. When you lift your foot off the throttle the fuel supply is cut off to prevent unnecessary burning of fuel. As the fuel supply is reinstated, usually at about 1000 to 1300 rpm or when you put your foot on the throttle, the revs are momentarily held at that point. I cannot comment on the effect this has when changing gear as I have a CVT.

Hi Pine,

I have had Toyota's, Smarts, Citroens etc.. and have never noticed this before.

Perhaps it is just a quirk of the Honda.

Many thanks for your reply.
