There's loads of discussion on various websites about car cleaning, how often, what products etc etc. For all that, the average person does not clean their car that often. I saw one figure of 9 times a year and at least half of these would have been at automatic car washes or commercial handwashes.

I blame my Dad. He had a company Jag as the sales director of an industrial lighting company. It was important to him to be smartly turned out and to arrive in a clean car. I earned extra pocket money by cleaning the car once a week. I even did my uncle's Vauxhall Cresta so a nice little earner.

It bothers me if the car isn't clean, it shouldn't but it does.

Same here, like a clean car.

Fortunately I have a garage and I decide whether it's going out or not. I can't remember using the wipers yet  ;D
Let's be careful out there !

We also have a garage and we can also decide when to go out or not.
Sometimes that is in nice sunny weather, sometimes rainy weather and sometimes, in winter in the snow (or snow mud with some added salt).
Sorry, Jazz... you are just a car, meant to be there for our convenience (and your wipers work great)!  ;D

Reminds me of one of my uncle's friends. He had a Standard Vanguard (the one that looked like an overgrown VW Beetle). This car almost never went out in the wet and, if it did, he would carefully rinse and dry off when back in the garage. He was a member of Rotary and his wife was always extremely embarrassed if they went to an evening do and it was raining because he would insist they went in the firm's mucky old van. My Dad bought this car for my Mum when it was 10 years old. It was beyond immaculate and still had a new car smell. This would be in the early 60s when underseal was in its infancy and he had "red leaded" the entire underside. 18,000 miles in 10 years was the mileage.

My new car last September came with free Autoglym Lifeshine for paintwork, upholstery and glass. Got a bag of 9 bottles, bird dropping wipes and large sponge. I have light coloured seats and good as new.

The chassis is probably still sitting somewhere immaculate.

I remember a colleague who had his new Hillman Avenger given the Ziebart treatment all over.

They drilled holes everywhere to squirt it inside. I've no idea if it worked because he moved on.
Let's be careful out there !
