I find with the CVT, if I want to hurry it along, just flick the 'down' paddle and squeeze the accelerator. You'll never make it quick but it does lift a bit and makes overtaking a breeze.

As an alternative to the down paddle, pressing the accelerator hard down, past the resistance point, produces quite rapid progress with high revs.

The reason I use the paddle is it doesn't over rev, it has the equivalent effect of dropping down a gear, yes I know that's not how a CVT works, but it has a similar effect to 'flooring it' without all the screaming engine revs. You just drop the gearbox down one on the paddle and gently accelerate for quite rapid progress without the noise of the revs.
