Touch up paint - mail order
« on: September 18, 2021, 12:16:42 PM »
Does anyone have a recommendation for mail ordering a touch up paint kit for my car?

The supplying dealer is quite far away, so it’s cheaper to have one posted.

I’ve only done 2.5k miles but already have some stone chips on the bonnet.

The paint doesn’t seem to be that thick, I also had the lifeshine treatment too(but wouldn’t again. )

I tend to use https://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/ for accessories. Just use the search function.

I got mine ordered with the car, you can't avoid chips with our poorly maintained roads.
Let's be careful out there !

It is also possible to buy the genuine Honda paint from Coxmotorparts on eBay.

Oddly i just was checking cox website for touch up paint. 1000 miles, 1st chip.

I can see why folk bought those primer grey civics..
Sadly ended up on a road that just had had far sprayed and loose chipings spread. First time in my life that I have obeyed the low speed signs (25 km/h)

Exactly why my 2 8G Civics were galaxy grey and my 9G Civic was urban titanium.

Yes it's a boring colour but stone chips don't show that much till I get time to fix it.

These latest Honda kits aren't the old type which were a single bottle, that I found quite easy, but a 2 part kit with basecoat and clearcoat that I found more difficult,  especially as the pearlescent glitter bit was in the clearcoat.
Let's be careful out there !

I have now got the Honda two part touch up paint. Having quickly looked at the instructions which are pictures not words, I think it says do not shake. But then there is a picture of running water over the end of the cap?
Sorry to be dense on this; previously touch up paint was a small container with a tiny brush applicator - and you had to shake it before using. And it was single coat.

Any advice much appreciated!

My last paragraph in the above post.

I agree, they aren't as easy for us amateurs.

My Civic one still had the brush but a bit big for small chips so I'd still use a cocktail stick or similar.

alas theres no such thing as Honda paint.. the reason theres different shades of a colour as that the car company will use different paint suppliers throught there color range. as in they may use ICI for a couple of years then Lechler the following year  then Glasurat the years after that... most proper bodyshop suppliers do touch up bottles and aerosol cans that they will match using their colour chips to the exact shade on your car.

I tried Halfords mixing service once using the paint code on the door panel plate.

I couldn't believe how far out it was. The guy doing the mixing was very careful with the amounts but in the end, nowhere near. The Honda badged ones I've bought either from a dealer or Cox have been spot on.

Where do you find the paint code on a 2021 Honda Jazz SR? I searched online and I found a site that said "Honda colour codes are easily found on the drivers door jamb. The code may contain numbers, letters, and dashes." But not on my Jazz. Perhaps they are old instructions. Does anyone know what the code is for metallic midnight blue?

It’s on a label on the passenger door jamb on my car - along the side of the label is the code for the paint.

It’s not very obvious- I only found mine by comparing all the numbers/codes listed on the label with the paint codes until I found one in the right format.

Yours might say B610M.
