Gear options on 2013 Vs 2015
« on: September 04, 2021, 07:32:53 PM »
Hi there.
Looking to purchase a 2nd hand Jazz, CVT model.

Looking at a 2013 model and a 2015 model.

The 2013 has forward gears D and S
The 2015 has forward gears D and S and L

Is there any reason for the older one not having the Low gear mode? I noticed a 2017 model that didn't have the L gear either... Was it only on a specific model around 2015?

I know the low gear would be useful for snow and hills.

Would I be missing out on much if I went for the older model without the L gear?

I had a 61 plate CVT, it also had flappy paddles so I could drive in a  spirited way,

The newer one, a 15plate doesn't have flappy paddles, so not so much fun,

I miss them when braking hard for a sharp corner, and trying to keep the revs above 3,500.

That's interesting I double checked the images of the 2 cars and yeah the 2015 doesn't have the paddles.

I test drove a 2017 model to see if I liked the CVT which I really did, and the paddles certainly added something, maybe more the left/down one than the right.

Based on that I'm leaning towards the older 2013 model as I like the paddles.

Still interesting that the 2015 has different features.

Ended up going for the older model which is a nice Milano red colour, can't beat that.

I think it will be beneficial to have the paddles for changing down gear to get the benefit of engine braking especially in winter.

Happy days.
