Annoying problem with my 2005 Honda Jazz
« on: September 05, 2021, 05:02:59 PM »
Hi

Can anyone please explain why this  is happening to me.

On August 22 I went to start up my Honda Jazz.

First I noted that neither of keys would open any doors automatically.
However I was able to open the drivers door with my key.
I tried to start it but it appeared the battery was dead.
Fortunately I had a jump start device and successfully started my Jazz.

On the Tuesday my car had its annual MOT.
A number of items needed to be fixed to pass- none related to the electronics.
One battery was replaced and then that key worked normally.

For various reasons I did not need to use the car until today

Despite passing my MOT and that replacement key battery, the key did not work.
And when i opened the door with the key and tried to start the Jazz exactly the same problem as before.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this please and if so should the MOT inspection have not shown up as the source of the problem.

Even though I am sure I will be able to jump start my Jazz, i do not want this problem to keep happening.

Thank you

thanks for your reply.

I am intending to again use my jump start device and leave engine running for a short time to recharge battery. if battery needs replacing would it not be an WOF issue.

Thanks

Alistair

You need to take it for a good run and if the problem remains, assess why it is not holding or taking a charge.

How old is your car battery and no an MOT would not identify electrical problems?

If you do not know how old the car battery is, replace it... a good battery is massively important to modern cars ( the electric power steering on MK1 Jazz draws over 40 amps,  on MK2 ir is over 60 amps )

At this price with very quick delivery it is a no-brainer.  The same battery from Halfrauds will cost about £100.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Yuasa are a good brand. Seems almost too good to be true at that price.

It's been discussed before, but just to reiterate, I've had many batteries from Tayna, including those Yuasa 5054 items, for both myself and several customers of mine. Always prompt delivery and extremely good packaging, I have no connection with them but happily recommend them for batteries.

+1 for batteries from Tayna, recommended supplier.

Don't forget to use promo code SEPTFIVE for another 5% off the price. Every little helps, as they say.
