Garmin Map Update Procedure
« on: February 23, 2023, 10:34:24 AM »
1) Format a 16Gb USB stick, note FAT32 and Default allocation units, I've called mine Car Update :

2) When complete, out to the car, powerup, plug in USB, start Garmin Navigation. Press the 3 dots to enter the menu :

3) Enter the settings area :

4) In settings, go to Map and Vehicle :

5) Scroll to bottom and enter Map Updates :

6) Start update process stage 1 - write to USB :

7) Unplug USB, power down car, go to PC asnd plug USB stick into PC. You may get a Windows error message but this can be ignored :

8) Start Garmin Express and wait for the Honda to become connected, green dot.

9) Once connected you can start the lengthy download procedure. It starts off telling you 5 hours but I timed mine and :

Download took 70 mins (0% to 50%)
Copying Files took 15 mins (50% - 100%)

Once complete :

10) Repeat stages 2 to 5 above. This time, instead of telling you it's written the data it will identify the data and will prompt, for some strange reason it will always say the installed version is 1.0 (bug) :

11) Start the car update process :

12) It does get to silly %, it did complete not long after the 300% :

Note: The Where To bug is still there (23,Feb,2023)

You will also notice that not all data is overwritten, whether this is by design or a bug I don't know :

Thanks very much for posting this. It will be a real help as it's all sequential. I am motivated to give it a try.

Hang fire at the moment as the latest version has a bug

I think the only other thing is, at each stage don't unplug the USB too early. Give it about 10 - 20 secs, just in case.

Stage 9) Whilst it's downloading, wiggle the mouse every so often to prevent screensaver or any other interruption kicking in.

First thing I wanted to ask is the bug still there, and you answered it!

I noticed the list of previous stuff, that was never on my Civics or the E, waste of memory or an erase bug.

I imagine that the problem with the 2023 maps persists, right?

I just updated to the Senior version of Garmin. Not only does it direct you to where you are going but when you get there it reminds you of WHY you were going there.

I suppose the bug might be fixed by the 2024.10 version?

I understand the first 2022.10 version had a similar bug but rarely using the built in SatNav I don't know how long that took to correct.

Over to someone else ........

The problem has already been solved. You have to download the new map and everything works again

In the POI you will also find "rent your rollator" stations!  ;D
