Title: Jazz Crosstar width
Post by: ivegotfivedoors on March 16, 2023, 10:20:53 AM
Hi all ,
I  have looked online and found out that the Crosstar is 1966mm wide
I am having a gate fitted 8 ft wide
my question ….is  the width of 1966mm including the wing mirrors folded out  only I do want my Crosstar to fit in my drive ?

When I reverse into my garage I have to fold the electric mirrors just for the opening so don't take the full width with mirrors as minimum width.

Update : Just been out and checked and my garage door is 7 foot wide, inside frame to inside frame, so you should be fine.

This is with the mirrors in the normal position. When folded in width is 1.725 meters.

1966 mm is just under 6ft 6".   But  bear in mind 8ft gates are a standard size ,post to post. But I dont know if this allows for hinge pintles that may protrude, and the gates when folded back may intrude upon this span by a few inches each side.    Probably still be wide enough  but could be less than a foot of tolerance in total.

Or a bit more if you fold the mirrors, but I'd find that a bit of a faff remembering to fold them back each time.
I'd rather leave them out and take more care with my driving accuracy.

Isn't that 1966mm with mirrors out though ?

Fold the mirrors and that drops to 1725mm, posted above, and that's down to ~5ft 6in so plenty of clearance.

I can put my Crosstar in the garage without folding the mirrors and the garage door is 7ft wide, with the mirrors folded it's a doddle.

Yes, I can also, but it's tight on the mirrors, less than an inch each side on mine.

Cars have got fatter, my Xantias and IS200, straight in, no mirror folding.

Sadly car parking bays haven't got any wider to match the growth in car sizes. So we squeeze down the ever decreasing gap between our car and the one parked next to it.

Fortunately I never need to go to any busy car parks.

Tesco Extra and B&Q Warehouse within a very short walk.
