Hello all,
I’m about to pick up a Jazz at the weekend. It’s an EX model and 2012. Happy to be joining the Jazz family! ;D
One thing I’ve noticed is the car idles at 500 rpm, and appears quite quiet. I’m not sure if it’s because I moved from a diesel which usually sounds like a tractor. The seller did meet me halfway so the car has been driven 30 minutes to me.
Should I be concerned or am I overthinking it? Other than two new tyres and new brake discs, the car appears mint. Obviously, used it to my advantage to get the price down a tad.
Thanks in advance.

My 2006 has 104,000 miles on the clock. It ticks over at 700 rpm, and sometimes it is so quiet I think it has cut out. Jazz engine is bulletproof. Enjoy yours, and forget about smelly diesel!

You will have to get used to looking at the tachometer to find out if the engine is running. :o

+1, yes I have to do that.
Plasma.

I don’t know the idle stop is working until the engine starts up again!

Same here. Couple of embarrassing graunches early on in ownership when I tried to start an already running car. :o
I now do the same as others here. Blip the throttle and look at the tachometer to see if the revs rise. If they do the engine's running :D

Me too.

It just shows how well engineered the Jazz is. My other car is a Seat Ibiza 1.4 petrol same year and mileage. Only when you compare the two you appreciate the difference. The Ibiza sounds like a diesel!
