Title: Dashcam footage submission site.
Post by: Jocko on July 03, 2018, 07:30:24 AM
I see Nextbase have set up a site where motorists will be able to upload video of careless and dangerous driving, before passing them on to the appropriate police force. It will also direct drivers to those forces that already have their own submission sites. It is just for England and Wales. Hopefully Police Scotland will introduce a similar initiative.

That's a potentially very useful development. Getting evidence to the police has been a hassle unless it's a major incident such as this http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/16327781.video-dashcam-footage-captures-moment-undertaking-mercedes-smashes-into-mini-on-the-m4/ (http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/16327781.video-dashcam-footage-captures-moment-undertaking-mercedes-smashes-into-mini-on-the-m4/) . There's still the challenge of remembering to get the memory card out of the dashcam, find the relevent video and upload it before it gets over-written.

Sussex Police have run such a site for years now, or at least you can make a report and include the url to the footage uploaded to Youtube or similar. They do however prefer it if the footage is not made publicly viewable in case they decide to purse it.

The dashcam footage of the drink driver in that link is from my neck of the woods, I use that dual carriageway and roundabout everyday.
