Honda NSX returns
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:39:55 PM »
The NSX Concept confirms a long circulating rumour that the NSX will be returning. Set to go sale in 2014 or 2015, the new NSX is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 with hybrid pack, producing 320bhp with four-wheel-drive and a 7-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission.  The mid-engined supercar features Honda's Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system developed from the Honda Legend.

The hybrid pack is made up of three electric motors - two at the front end and one attached to the engine. Li-ion batteries may feature on the new NSX with the possibility of short burst of electric vehicle running around town.

The original NSX was made from 1990 to 2005 and received input from a certain Ayrton Senna.

This is stunning richard!! i saw it in sun motors the other day... i really hope it gets put into production.. i notice that this is wearing the acura badge which as you know is hondas luxury car arm, i think if it does make it past the drawing board it will probably hit the states first, because, as you know, honda and acura are massive over there.. but, with looks like that, its going to be a seller... fingers crossed eh?

its not quite as stunning as the original (pop up lights = awesome) but its an amazing looking machine, hopefully it goes into production and at a more sensible price than the original nsx lot did :)

The latest issue of CAR magazine (July 2012) Gordon Murray (designer of the Mclaren F1) has this to say about the Honda NSX:

Quote
The Honda NSX was the benchmark for ride and handling. Ferraris in those days were crap. The Testarossa was rubbish.

:D

i still stand that the tesla roadster is quite possibly the nicest looking e-car.
that being said, i think the honda clarity will be the future of non-petrol automobiles.

it looks like audi r8, but 320bhp? :)
common it's twice as much as in mass market small cars, or hondas are supposed to be cheap?
hybrids is a strange choice for performance vehicles, it either should be electric or not

I was kind of surprised seeing price/acceleration stats for R8
>$180k for 3.8-4.4 sec 0-60
so it's twice more expensive then sedans with the same level of acceleration with little no cargo space
what's the point? only looks? top speed for german autobans?
