Never ever used B. Thought it was for old codgers unsure on the road.
Drivers who have made an informed choice. .  :P  IMO sometimes maybe the wrong choice.  I  must  admit when driving my loan car Civic along a fast winding road in the rain   it was the old codger in me that didnt want to mess about with  the regeneration  flappy paddles .  Is not even trying an easy choice  between just D and B somehow better?

Not that I knew what the flappy paddles did.  I did try them but didnt notice any difference either in performance or on the fairly complex  dashboard display.    But that may have been another old codger moment.  The Civic dashboard display made the Jazz one seem so simple.  ;D

Out of interest, what do the brake lights do when you're in B mode? I understand that it's a bit like engine braking in a conventional car, but the comments here suggest it's more aggressive than that and the retardation is more like using the brakes. It can be quite important to signal to the driver behind that you're slowing down and normally he'd see your brake lights, so do the lights come on when B is slowing the car?
As far as I understand, the brake lights will illuminate automatically when the car exceeds a certain degree of retardation.

...I did look at the 'simple' view on a few journeys whilst driving, I didn't see the brake lights come on at any time when coming off the go pedal.

..tbh I don't think they will ever light up without actually braking.

Not a very complimentary post.

There are many choices on the Jazz and I respect everyone's decision for each one.

It was tongue in cheek.

B mode is great. It's fun to use but also dangerous because when you use it your brake light doesn't work and that's a safety issue for yourself and everybody around you.
When I switch to B mode I always check my rear because maybe other driver didn't noticed that I'll slow down that quickly.
You have to always protect that empty space.
Otherwise it's great. I'm using  every possible opportunity.

Cheers!

I don't consider B mode any different from those who drop a gear to slow down in a manual. That doesn't trigger brake lights either.

I agree that you do need to be aware of what's behind.

If someone do that drop gear and slowing yes it's dangerous too.

...I don't think the deceleration is sufficient enough to warrant calling it 'dangerous' and far from a safety issue.

My words can be little bit harsh. I feel that when I write it.
English is my 3 language and it's not very good.
Anyway. This not a big topic to be discuss.

B mode is great just always check your back when you slowing down.

Cheerss
Cheers!

...That's what I'm saying. I don't check behind again when I ease off the go pedal. The deceleration isn't enough for me to warrant it.

I'm usually already aware of someone that is travelling too close but other than that I don't make a special effort to just for being in B

I only use b when travelling down hills so it slows you down on a hill and recharges the battery all other time I use d

Hi all

Just asking a question on how people drive their Crosstars and the benefits.

Do you drive just using D or B or a mixture of both? I’m new to automatic driving after 35 years in manual cars, so any advice please.
Most of my driving is in town. I mostly use B, my second year service has recently been done & the Honda Technician reported it was good I was making use of the regenerative braking. My Brakes are worn by 10%, not bad for a two year car.

The only time I don't use B is near the bottom of a long downhill and the battery gets full whereupon I change to D and use the brakes rather than have the car enable engine braking.
