Honda Jazz Mk3 2015 - 2020 / Re: handbrake clunk
« Last post by Lord Voltermore on March 26, 2023, 02:10:42 PM »
With your foot on the pedal the pads are already applied to the disc.  The handbrake mechanism is not  having to move the pads so is not under much tension until it reaches the top of its movement and suddenly meets resistance  .The different dynamics in  cable/mechanism tension might cause the handbrake self adjuster mechanism or some other linkage  to activate and clunk.

Just a theory. I dont know this particular car.  The electric handbrake on the mk 4  can be quite sensitive to how slowly and carefully the handbrake is applied.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Garmin Map Update Procedure
« Last post by Kremmen on March 26, 2023, 02:04:24 PM »
You can update the map as often as you like as the Garmin version is always shown and identified as "1" instead of say "2023.10" on the head unit. If it was done by the dealer then you've replaced like with like.

The only way to tell is to go into myMaps and scroll through the list. If there is any mention of 2023.10 then you have the latest version, till next year.

Given the Garmin has no traffic I'd investigate Android Auto Google Maps. I only update Garmin as a backup just in case Android Auto and/or Google Maps has an issue.

There's a siren test at a government establishment near us every Monday at 10am GMT.

I lived about five miles as the crow files from Broadmoor back in the 90s. Sometimes you could hear the siren test every Monday at 10am.
Yes thats when I made my escape. Everyone ignored the siren.   ;D  It got like that with unreliable diy fit car alarms.

Off Topic (Non-Honda) / Re: Motorway MINIMUM speed limit
« Last post by Lord Voltermore on March 26, 2023, 11:46:31 AM »
UK traffic law uses some general 'catch all' laws rather than specific laws for every possible  offence(,such as a minimum speed limit)     If objectively its considered that " driving falls below the standard expected of a competent and careful driver "

For the offence of' dangerous driving' one factor is - "  speed, which is particularly inappropriate for the prevailing road or traffic conditions;"      Note it does  not say  excessive speed

For 'driving without  reasonable consideration'   one factor is  "unnecessarily slow driving or braking without good cause;"

I have pasted these from the Crown Prosecution service  guidelines  (possibly out of date.)

https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/road-traffic-charging

This is a bit long and you may have to scroll down   but makes interesting reading.  (  I notice that dangerous driving can include not taking prescribed medicine.   :-[ )

So the 40 mph on a motorway  minimum  limit may be   one police  forces guidelines on when to consider  these offences, but it may also be nationwide CPS guidelines.

Up until the early 70's we were within 4 miles of Broadmoor, and it was just normal to hear the siren test.
