Hi
My Jazz is 4 yrs old and only done 16000. I needed to check when the CVT oil change was due, could not find anything in the service book. Rang several Honda dealers and they quoted every 2yrs/25000, 4yrs, 5yrs/50000 so am confused, looks like some garages have their own policy and change every 2 yrs maybe. Would value your thoughts, many thanks.

I got mine changed at 70.000 km 2 1/2 year, the serice reminder asked for it, it had been on to trips to the alps in that period. 2012 model
-
Mk 1 so different but service schedule says 38000.

I checked at my Honda dealer when I was in there last time and it's listed as being scheduled at 60000 miles or 5 years, so I'll be having mine done at the next service.
-
Thanks for the replies, so looks like Honda are saying 5 years but some garages are saying 2 yrs, cannot both be right, so maybe it is a money making exercise and at £75 a time, makes it worthwhile

Hybrid CVT is 25,000 miles or 2 years intervals, so I have had my cars cvt fluid changed 6 times so far :)
-
If in doubt consult Honda's own service checklist. I attach the form for my Hybrid's most recent (4th) service. It confirms Ozzie's 25k miles / 2 years but, given that I have no record of the CVT fluid ever having been changed in 4 services / 4 years, my local Honda agent seems to interpret the requirement as being the whichever is the last of 25k miles / 2 years (I've yet to reach the 25k miles).
Perhaps I need to seek an explanation.

;DRe: auto-box fluid change etc.
Hi, I have a 2012 1.4 EX. CVT and I was having a problem, i.e.: loosing power at times, it's all down to a little bit of a C/up by Honda. In the service book (part number car-serv-0111. issue date 10/11) it shows on page 42 that the CVT fluid should be replaced every 75,000miles or 8 years. THIS IN WRONG.
ON LATE 2011 models onwards it should be done every 25,000miles or 2 years.
I was given this information from Honda, due to our Jazz having to go back to the garage 4 times because of loss of power/pull.
I was also told that the CVT box should be Flushed every 4 years.
We had the CVT, drained-flushed-refilled, all paid for by Honda supplying dealer and our Zoo-Zoo is now running great.
My wife and I are wondering if we were to be: drained-flushed-refilled, would that help our (old age) aches and pains,
:-X

Braingoing, if you wake up in the morning and nothing's hurting then you're dead! :o
-
I beg your pardon. It would appear that if I'm dead, I won't wake up, however if I do wake up and nothing is hurting, something must have fallen off me during the night, that being the case, I hope the cat hasn't eaten it.
I would continue but it's time for my Tablets, Coming Nurse......if it hasn't fallen off :P

In my younger days I was 'flushed, drained and refilled' and was often not feeling any pain on a regular basis and lived to tell the tale.
Now I would agree that if nothing hurts then you are probably dead !

This is what my local dealer said but could not find this info in the service book, did not seem to list the jazz model.

My local Honda agent's computer system shows that my hybrid's CVT oil was changed at the last service so it seems that someone was too lazy to tick the box on the checklist. Either that or they are being naughty boys and billing Honda for work that wasn't done (it was my last service in the service package I bought with the car).

This matter of CVT fluid changes is a bit of a minefield. On the GE jazz, does the change from I shift auto to cvt auto
correspond with the facelift change, or put another way, are there any pre facelift models with CVT or any facelift models with I shift? If the changes in transmission and facelift were simultaneous, then all GE facelift cars with CVT are 2012 models even if registered in 2011, because all facelift jazzes are classed as 2012 models. If this is the case then they should have a fluid change at 2 years or 25000 miles. My own jazz was registered Oct 2011,the salesman confirmed that it would be the 2012 model, my local dealer says the car has to be registered in 2012 to qualify for the fluid change. This does not seem logical to me. Have I got it all wrong?
-
All CVTs (and Hybrids) are facelift models, I-SHIFT was pre-facelift. The facelift was designated by Honda as 2012 Model Year despite caming out in early 2011 (this practice is common in the US).
I'll make this topic a pinned topic and put a link in the Specification topic and FAQ forum.

Hi,
after trying to get sense out of my dealers varying replies I emailed Honda for a definitive answer. My 2011 cvt should have the oil changed at 2 year intervals, Honda derby who I have gone back to got it right,

Hi
Can I ask why paid for by Honda dealer, had you just bought the car?
Thanks

Hi, just rang Honda and they have confirmed that my 2011 registered Jazz is a 2012 model and required cut oil change 2 yrs or 25000. I asked when it should be flushed and basically he did not know as he told me to speak to the local dealership..think it may be every 4 yrs, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks.

I had mine done this year with it's MOT (3rd) and service, when I looked back through the service info pack I found that it was done a couple of years ago, I'd obviously forgotten about that ::)

Does the MkII CVT use the same oil as the MK I CVT?
Does anyone perhaps have a part number or link to the correct oil?
For the CVT fluid change interval at 2 years or 25000 miles is that just a drain and refill, around 3L?

Visit cox motor parts website, they will provide you with the correct fluid for the car year.
I have just got genuine Honda coolant from Cox and it was cheaper than the Halfords stuff ( and the same colour a stuff that is in now, so when I do a part coolant change - ( I never fully drain system ) - the coolant in the car will not go a muddy brown colour ).
-
Thanks Guys, the Cox website is an awesome resource, I'm going to keep it bookmarked for future reference.
But I don't know how accurate it is because it shows both versions of the CVT oil as being compatible when putting my VIN number in. They say VIN *Required. We check all parts for compatibility with your vehicle via Honda EPC.
Genuine Honda CVT Fluid 4 Litres (Pink correct version up till 2012 CVT vehicles)
Genuine Honda HCF-2 CVT Fluid 4 Litres (Yellow version apparently for 2013 and onwards CVT vehicles)

I have never put vin number in, just registration number...

I have never put vin number in, just registration number...
Perhaps they don't deal in South African registration numbers.

Genuine Honda HCF-2 CVT Fluid 4 Litres (Yellow version apparently for 2013 and onwards CVT vehicles)
Both may be compatible with the older transmission and the HFC-2 only with the newer transmission.

It picked it up no problem and below the box it says "Enter your Registration Number (GB) or VIN (Non-GB)"
Genuine Honda CVT Fluid 4 Litres (Pink correct version up till 2012 CVT vehicles)
Genuine Honda HCF-2 CVT Fluid 4 Litres (Yellow version apparently for 2013 and onwards CVT vehicles)

Apparently not at all, you can't mix them, the older is Pink and newer is Yellow.

Just to confirm the Honda CVT Fluid 4 Litres is the correct oil for my CVT.
I did my oil change and it's all going great.

Hi,i have a jazz automatic,2 years old and only done 2500 miles ,yes 2500 and my main dealer says i need to change the gearbox oil or fluid.can i refuse because of the low mileage?full service shoots up to over £400 if this is done.TIA

I'd refuse because the gearbox oil change is mileage based but only refuse if not doing the gearbox oil change won't invalidate the vehicles warranty.
I'm assuming it's a CVT gearbox?
-
sorry for the late reply.yes cvt and have to have it done as it invalidates the warranty .2500 miles over 2 years must be a worlds record.thanks for the reply. stay safe. chris :(

As far as I know the gearbox CVT oil change is done based on mileage every 30,000miles or every 10yrs whichever comes first so I would query that with the dealer in question, ask to see the CVT service interval in writing in your service book where it will be stated if its legitimate and also phone a few other Honda dealers to confirm what your dealer is claiming.
Because these is a lot of confusion with the CVT oil change interval and some dealers don't know the correct interval and probably try convince customers to get it done when its not needed because it's a great money spinner.

Hi, fixed price service cost for CVT oil change is £160, what a rip off, was £70 last time,
