Title: Re - entering Radio code
Post by: weeleyboy on November 10, 2021, 09:46:23 PM
'I had to replace the battery on my Mk 2 Jazz and consequently re-enter the security code but I am unable to enter the code.
The code is shown  as a sequence of 6 numbers and below a sequence of 3 letters followed by 8 numbers . the station
numbers  4, 5 and 6 have letters below them. However when I try to enter the code the display simply says enter the security code. I am at a loss as to where to proceed from here.
Any help will be much appreciated.

What you want is the sequence of six numbers which will each be between 1 and 6.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have the six numbers but my problem is when I try to enter the code the screen just says "error" I have followed the instructions on how to do this but the message says enter the code and I have had no luck with this method.
I did read on the net it can be done by pressing and holding it in but have yet to try this.

No other suggestions have turned up so need a local radio specialist or as a last resort  the local main dealer.
thanks to those who have tried to solve the problem for me - if I find the answer I will post it here.

On some Honda vehicles the radio is coded into the ECU via the VIN. I've seen this right back to 2006 Civics.

I seem to recall the solution for some was to press and hold one of the radio buttons (volume?) for a number of seconds and that would force the radio to read the VIN and reset.

At last! Thanks to a capable young man at D.Piper Motors I'm now back on air. Can't recall exactly how he did it but he made it look very easy - I was just being ignorant of the sequence.. Many thanks to everyone for their advice and to the young man who fixed it and refused to take any money - the age of help is still thankfully about

Shame he didn't explain.

That would have been a useful post here.

I'm ashamed to discover that I was trying to enter the serial number as the code. My saviour just pressed no 1 when asked for the code and then entered the correct code whereupon the radio came on.
Lesson learnt - read the instructions more carefully!.
