It would be more informative if they had indicated whether they were mk1 mk2 or mk3 jazz.

Nah, it's because they are owned by old people who forget to lock them and leave their keys in the car  ;)

Or if you stop the engine when it is cold.

Meh. No self-respecting thief is going to steal a Honda Jazz.

Agreed, our local scrotes would not be seen dead in one.

Obviously there are some scrotes somewhere who are seriously lacking in self-respect:

Interesting....Jazz SE CVT. Maybe crooks intend to strip out the CVT box?

Maybe scrotes just don't know how to drive a manual :)

It's interesting though isn't it? Scrotes may not be the key players here. Are they being stolen for resale?

Probably not of high enough value, my guess would be stripped for parts.

More likely, yes. Hondas are generally very reliable but if you do ever need something replacing it's expensive.

A shipping container of assorted car parts stolen to order has a better density / value than a couple of cars. The parts can include body parts (ooh arrgh)  doors, etc. for accident repairs.

Hi all, Not to be too flippant but l find it quite amusing all this worry over the easines of stealing modern cars.
I am sure that most of you of a certain age ( myself included)  will remember in the 70s and 80s you could get into almost any car that had pull up locks on the doors with a piece of plastic binding tape.

+1

This is where the sum of the parts is greater than the whole ( LOL - in a reversal of the normal definition of a team ) parts are easy to get rid of and virtually untraceable - just look at dashcam videos of driving in some eastern European / Russian states and you can see why lots of spares are required,  and with 'world models' of cars the bits are going to fit. You can understand why CVT are a target by looking at the price of a replacement CVT box.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I wonder if there is a trade in scrotes trying to con people into buying a reconditioned (read: stolen) CVT box when all is needed is a system flush and oil change.

Although more difficult in the age of computer controlled everything, I have found it is always preferable to to do your research before consulting the motor trade. Simple stuff like checking front brake pads occaisionally can save a set of discs or stop a rip off during a tyre change. A little knowledge can be dangerous but knowledge is also powerful when dealing with the motor trade, but this also applies to any other outfit providing a service. If you have a problem with a bit of kit, having had a look at an exploded diagram and repair procedures online can help tremendously when discussing its repair. For example a Jazz clutch slave cylinder replacement  is a quick easy job,  Ford Fiesta is a gearbox out job.
