ACC regulary switches off on motorway for no reason
« on: January 15, 2022, 11:28:59 AM »
Hello everyone,

I almost drive on Autobahn only and I am happy to have the ACC on board. But My Jazz e:HEV’s ACC regulary switches off after 30 minutes (less or more), doesn‘t matter if there is lot traffic or no car in front of me. There is no difference between good weather or bad weather in terms of sight as well. The ACC quits with a one second long beep sound.

When I try to switch it on again by pressing the set button, in the display I can see the ACC off symbol and I can hear two short beep sounds. The ACC denies to switch on again.

As I found out, I have to stop at a rest stop (full stop) to get the ACC automatically resetted (?) and to get it working again.

Can anyone confirm this behaviour? Thanks.

No such problem in my MY22. Touching the brake turns it off. A touch on the set speed button on the wheel turns it on again.

My car reacts as it should and as you described it. So far so good. But it does it only for about 30 minutes. Do you have experiences with longer and steady motorway trips? Thx.

I had something similar happen to me, but only once last weekend.

I do mainly long trips 1 hour+ on the motorway.

During a trip the ACC wouldn’t switch on after a while, all I got was beeps and the ‘ACC off’ message on the dash - nothing else.

There was no other message saying camera obscured or anything else.

I guessed it might be sun reflecting off dirt on the upper windscreen where you can’t see it. There was also some low sun last weekend, but it also did it when in the shade.

After a very long blast of screenwash I managed to get it working again and so far it hasn’t come back yet. I was driving today and used lots of screenwash and didn’t have the issue.

Yes, I recently used ACC for most of a 70 mile trip on a motorway.

Maybe it is the low sunshine at this time of year causing the system to be confused.

Unfortunately I have this ACC problem in summer, autmn and now during winter. With sun or with darkness at e.g. 4.30 a.m.

I wish I could find any hint.

Do I have a MY22, too? I bought my new EX in August 2021.

Bought ours in September 2021.
Have you asked your dealer about the problem?

Be patient, please  ;D I have a bigger problem than the problem described before. Today, a car crashed in my Jazz on the Autobahn coming from behind, because the other driver used the traditional cruise control of his VW Golf at 130 km/h without looking out of the window. He tried to find a better radio station instead, he told me and the police. Fortunately the Jazz still works fine and I must emphasize that I felt safe in my Jazz during the crash.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the dealer. Let‘s see what happens. The bumper with sensors and the tailgate have to be replaced I suppose.

Sorry to hear about the accident, glad you’re safe.

If you have any pictures of the damage it would be useful to see how the Jazz held up.

The dealer will also likely check the hybrid battery pack - if there is any damage to the casing they sometimes replace the pack.

Our dog rides in the boot. A rear-end collision worries me.

I've had the ACC issue again today - about an hour driving on the motorway.

After maybe 45 minutes of occasional use, it stops working - just two beeps and the 'acc off' message on the dash.

Windscreen was completely clear, but I sprayed it anyway. Still didn't work, but maybe 10 minutes later without stopping it was working again.

Maybe some unseen dirt gets on the windscreen and after it's cleared it takes a few minutes for the system to reset?

No chance getting a dealer to sort it, as it has only happened twice in over 8,000 miles now.
