Injector misfire
« on: February 04, 2025, 02:33:22 PM »

My Honda Jazz CVT, which has 168,000 miles on it, developed a misfire the other day. When I connected my OBD-II scanner, it indicated a misfire on cylinder number 3. I removed all four injectors and used my own pump to spray, the second and third injectors spray badly not an fine mist.

I couldn't find new injectors in stock; the OEM part number is 0280156188.

I was wondering if any companies recondition injectors, similar to what I saw on telly Wheeler Dealers, where they replace the rubber rings, clean them thoroughly, and test them with a machine.

Thanks

If you have the ability to check the spray pattern at least subjectively it might be viable to find some used injectors from a breakers (or fleabay etc) and hope that at least a couple are serviceable. Could be fairly cheap.
Older design injectors were prone to "plugging ", basically deposit build up, and can often be cleaned reasonably successfully using proprietary injector/carbon cleaner. Might be worth a try.

As far as I'm aware, I've only seen firms advertising refurb of diesel injectors. They can be extremely expensive to buy new, hence the refurb market. Have you googled in your area for a local firm?

I would agree with embee. Buy a set of used injectors, probably going to have less miles covered than your cars impressive 168k, and see how you get on. Certainly be far and away the cheapest route. Worth noting a lot of breaking cars on Fleabay are just listed as car to break, and you then contact the breaker for the part you require. Some firms list individaul parts, but many just the car. A little phone/messaging work can bring sizeable savings.

All your info was helpful. I tried to clean with injector cleaner mixed with petrol, occasionally pump about 60 times each, till the two of four became more freely misty. It really works!

I have bought second-hand low-mileage injectors cause in the future mind not have spare parts left.

Thank you.
