;D ;D  Brace yourself for a lot of boring tools with the bit between their teeth.  Lets hope they dont screw up.    Puns intended  ;D

But seriously, good ideas can come from such stunts.   I have wondered why EV's dont have a series of small batteries that can be quickly plugged and unplugged like this. Easily portable, perhaps 5kg each.  A universal type which you lease rather than own, a bit like exchanging an empty gas bottle for a full one at a service station . You can still charge them at home if you have an off road charging point, or take a few batteries indoors   for charging. On a journey you can exchange  batteries for charged ones in a few minutes at service stations.     If you need extended range and willing to sacrifice some boot space you could 'hire' extra batteries. Either permanently or just short term for a special trip.   Breakdown services could carry a few charged ones in their van.

And why dont hybrids come as standard  with a socket to take a  removable 'drill' type battery. (also included)  If the cars relatively  small 12v battery is unable to power the computer the 'drill' battery could act as an independently charged emergency back up.  It wouldnt add much to cost or weight.
