Rather urgent - fuel flap is jammed
« on: September 26, 2022, 08:13:54 PM »
I cannot seem to open the fuel flap and I need to fill up.  :o It does the double action lock bit but it seems to have jammed and does not pop open. I do not want to force it. Can anyone help. Thanks.

I've just been out to our 2010 Jazz and hopefully this may help.

Lock the car on the remote and then when standing by the fuel flap lift up the rear edge by just two or three mm then press the unlock button. Hopefully the extra pressure of your hand may release the lock.

Fingers crossed it helps. I don't think there's any internal release mechanism.

Hi There, If you have any oil in spray can with nozzle tube, Spray into gap around body cover cap while
repeatly pressing cover plate, This allow oil spray to free up cap cover mechanism.
                                  Hope that helps

Resolved. I think it was because I tried to open it when the doors were locked. Odd. Never had this issue before. Been a funny day. Probably the fantastic news on the Italian election. Well done Italy. Has the worm finally begun to turn. I also expect $60 dollar a barrel at some point. Are we finally returning to normality. In the words of Churchill, 'Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.'

PS - Thanks for the prompt and helpful replies, Henryge and ianhj.

On my Mk 1, you cannot open it at all if the doors are locked.

Hi Jocko. Yes. As mentioned, I think I must have had a blank moment or something. I doubt it is an intermittent problem. All's well that ends well.

The Mk 4 has an emergency override. A little toggle  you can pull from inside the boot.  It might be worth checking if the mk2 has the same in case it happens again.

Under these circumstances the boot would have been locked as well  :)
Let's be careful out there !

True  but it could have been  some sort of electrical or mechanical problem with the hatch release itself rather than sophisticated clever tricks  with the central locking. ,  Maybe Honda expect future  problems with the mk 4  ;D

Jazz Mk2 has a similar Emergency Fuel Filler Release - remove the trim and operate the mechanism manually from inside.
