Not my favourite colour: too dark to be safe .
Lots of nutters driving too fast.

My issue with black and very dark colours is the visible swirls you get after a wash and wax.
Let's be careful out there !

As for not being able to see a dark body car, that's why we all have daytime running lights... ;D

No, not an option on the Crosstar but you've got the additional surf blue and the two-tone themes

Statistically lighter cars have fewer crashes  , but I dont think its enough to change insurance premiums.  (I think they occasionally increase premium/insurance group for cars with fancy paint finishes  that make repairs more expensive)

I too find dark colours harder to keep clean. Especially as I live in an area with very hard water. (kent)
That said  I find my pearlescent white Jazz    needs more work  to keep clean than a plain white car I had a few years ago.  I treated the Jazz  with turtle  wax  hybrid ceramic spray which improved the water beading quite a lot, but it still needs more finishing off than the previous white car  (which to be fair was in an area where the water was a bit  softer. )         I probably need an improved shampoo.    Anyone know one proven to work well  in a Hard water area?

Or you could try real poo instead of the fake version.

I have the Midnight blue beam metallic on my EX Style, which also has a black roof/trims. Previous to this was a Valencia orange Clio and before that a Fire red Captur (before that an Oyster grey metallic one). They were all ok for about a week after cleaning, then the inevitable road grime, bug or bird crap and water marks when it rained. The Jazz is the darkest car I have owned, and so far I have found its propensity to attract dirt/dust no different from my previous cars. As soon as I bought it home I waxed it with Autoglym Aquawax, and for about 3 weeks it looked great. Then the rain came, and the Sahara sand.. added to that bug crap, and it needs another swill. I haven't found it any harder or easier to clean really, just a different colour to previous. We have hard water in our area, and I have always used Autoglym (only because I was supplied with a car care kit with one of our Renaults) and it has always worked well.
