Tickover
« on: October 05, 2015, 01:09:47 PM »
Hi

Anyone know how I can increase the tickover slightly on my i-shift 1.4. It is around 500rpm and is not too happy in drive.

Idle speed is not adjustable manually, it is controlled by the ECM (engine control module).

Things to check:

When was the last oil change?
How many miles have the spark plugs done?
How dirty is the air filter?
Is the auxiliary drive belt at the correct tension?
Is the battery in a good condition?

yours must be a mk2 if its a vtec, you'd be better posting in the correct section as this is for mk1

If it's ticking over that low sounds like a sensor is reading wrong, are there any other problems. ?
Have a good look around the rubber pipes near air filter etc. Look for Any fine splits or cuts. Isv May be playing up, and due a clean. that's 2 easyish cheapo things to try.
