Playing MP3/WMA/iTunes AAC songs
The GE Jazz’s radio/CD player can play MP3/WMA CD's but cannot play iTunes AAC songs because the files are protected. You will need to either download a conversion tool to convert to MP3/WMA, or using iTunes, copy to audio CD.
The CD player on GD models can't play MP3/WMA's. You will need to copy these songs to an audio CD.
Playing CD-R/CD-RW discs
All models can playe CD-R & CD-RW audio CDs.
Connecting iPod's & Other Portable Audio devices
From around 2006, all Jazz’s came with an AUX-in socket mounted below the cigeratte lighter. The flap marked ‘AUX’ hides a 35mm socket allowing an mp3 player or similar portable audio device (including an iPod) to be played back via the Jazz’s audio unit. It requires a lead with a 35mm socket on both ends which is connected via the headphone socket on the mp3 player. It does not allow the head unit to control the track selection or volume on the mp3 player. On earlier models the flap is replaced with a blanking plate - there is no AUX socket behind this, although it maybe possible to install one.
Third Party Kits
On all models, an mp3 player or iPod can be connected via the socket located at the back of the unit used for connecting a CD changer. Connecting an iPod through this method allows the use of a dedicated iPod connection kit, providing track selection via the Jazz’s audio controls (including the steering wheel-mounted audio controls) and charging of the iPod’s battery. Some kits offer USB ports for memory sticks and MP3 players and even SD card slots.
Connecting these kits require the removal of the head unit.
