Hopefully an end to windscreen reflections!
« on: July 14, 2017, 03:51:08 PM »
I bought this from Ali Express for not much money, less than £20 I think, plus some adhesive velcro tape from Screwfix:

I love it. Hopefully I can see where I'm going on sunny days now.

Is that custom made for the Jazz or have you customised it yourself ? If possible can you post a link directly to that product please.

Great idea. I hate the reflections my Jazz throws onto the windscreen.

Custom made for the Jazz, and it's now even cheaper:

What's that in pounds? £10 or so? Bargain!

Thanks for that link. Although the AliExpress description reads
XUKEY SUN SHADE DASH BOARD COVER CARPET RHD 2010 2011 2012 FIT FOR 2009-2013 HONDA JAZZ FIT
their photo, and yours looks to be an exact match of my 2015 Jazz SI
Very tempted to buy one of these, how long did delivery to UK take and were you hit with any customs/duty charges?

I think the new Jazz came out in other markets before we got it, so that'll be right. I can't remember exactly how long it took to arrive, maybe three weeks, and I didn't have to pay any customs charges. It came folded up in quite a small plastic bag, so it wasn't a big package, and it's not heavy or valuable.

Many thanks Pumpkin for your advice. I've now ordered one of these for $15.54 with fastest shipping at $9.99. Should be around £19.75 in total. Roll on those sunny days!

Hi

I have seen these many times, and considered buying one, but was not sure in the event of an accident and deployment of the air bag. I have read bad stories

Many thanks

John

It will only affect passenger side airbag as the drivers one is in the centre of steering wheel,  and reflection is not a problem on passenger side.  Not too difficult to modify passenger side  by removing material from the shade to avoid covering up the airbag area above glovebox.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Although it does come with little sticky pads, I decided they weren't up to the job and bought this velcro tape:

http://www.screwfix.com/p/velcro-brand-heavy-duty-stick-on-tape-black-50mm-x-1m/21670

I then cut it into strips with scissors and placed it in various places around the top of the dash.

When mine arrives I will mod to ensure passenger airbag is not compromised.

Dash cover arrived today from China 5 days after ordering. I can confirm it's reasonable quality, a good fit  and certainly solves the problem of reflections in the screen. I now want to mod this so it doesn't compromise passenger airbag performance. Does anyone know how much of the top of the dashboard needs to be not covered to achieve this please ?

This is the best photo I can find. I've just been typing in 'honda jazz breaking' and looking on salvage websites for interior pictures:

I too ordered one of these mats from AliExpress and was going to raise a post about the question of the modification required to enable the passenger air bag to operate.
Thank you Pumpkin for the pic. It would appear that a split up to about half of it's total depth should suffice. This hopefully would enable the air bag to operate, obviously depending on the weight of the mat I sincerely hope I will never experience the situation where by an air bag is deployed.
