cold start fast idle
« on: April 26, 2016, 08:35:44 AM »
we have an issue with cold start fast idle as the revs go up to 1800rpm
is there a fast idle valve on the throttle body that can be cleaned,
i have looked on the internet and older hondas have a plunger type valve
that can be fixed by tightening the plunger as this can unscrew,
is this something that can be done on the ima if so where about is the valve located.

thanks

Mine goes to approx 1500 rpm, but I have never worried about it, as it settles as soon as the car moves, and the car warms up within a mile, my theory is leave well alone if it ain't busted.

kath has noticed the revs recently have been higher

it then becomes your problem and not hers

Maybe mention it at the next service, but I really wouldn't worry.

thanks for your reply ozzie
i think it may of been with the temperature becoming warmer
and maybe the values the ecu had been seeing where
on the bottom end for a cold start and the top end for a warm start
and this may explain why this happened, but as of this afternoon
we have now sold the Jazz and bought an Auris hybrid to replace it
kath has passed hints about the auris for a while so i bought her
a 2013 Auris for her 40th birthday which is in a couple of weeks.
i will still come onto the forum and help if i can.
