Signatures and img / html

Hi,

On other sites I use, I have a discrete image and link to my stats at spritmonitor.de, and others I know use fuelly.com

The BBcode I'd be using would be this:

Code: [Select]
2006 1.4SE CVT [URL=http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/632738.html][IMG]http://images.spritmonitor.de/632738_45.png[/IMG][/URL]
and look like

2006 1.4SE CVT

(I haven't done the first full tank yet, so showing -.- MPG)

The small fuel icon is clickable and links to the detailed vehicle log.

Firstly I can understand why (dodgy links, huge flashing banners) there is a block on "html" and "img" in the signature text. However, is there a workaround to this to permit this useful info? I'm thinking of pre-approval of some sort.

This will be something to look into. There might be even be an official mod for Simple Machines forum software - I think Civinfo enables spritmonitor.de (or similar) but they use vBulletin forum software.

Thank you. If I come across any relevant forum software info I'll post back.

Hi Richard,

I can't remember if the list below has change since the forum rules were amended on signatures, but there still appears to be a few stumbling blocks to adding a fuel icon to signatures.

Quote
The following errors occurred when trying to save your profile:
The following BBC is not allowed within your signature: abbr, acronym, anchor, black, blue, br, code, center, email, ftp, font, flash, green, glow, hr, html, img, iurl, li, list, left, ltr, me, move, nobbc, pre, php, quote, right, red, rtl, s, size, sub, sup, shadow, time, tt, table, tr, td, url, white, thumb.

I've had a look at the Simple Machines documentation ( http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/SMF2.0:Features_and_Options#Signatures ) and it appears that some unticking of boxes and alterations of values might need to be done.

Maxium allowed characters: A spritmonitor icon will gobble up 113 characters, with a few more for the description, so depending on cars in the house, metric/imperial perhaps it may need nudging up at a later date from 300 chars max.

Maximum amount of lines: Don't know how many it is at the moment, but 5 should do.

Maximum font size allowed in signatures: 12 pixels?

Allow smileys in signatures: No?

Maximum smiley count: If allowed, then 1.

Maximum image count: 4 for starters as 1 car's fuel icons could have two small images (Imperial/metric)

Maximum width of signature images (pixels): 500 (I think a large Fuelly banner is this wide)

Maximum height of signature images (pixels): 100

Enabled BBC tags: Yes, and allow html, img and url as highlighted above.

And anyone who particularly hates signatures can always turn off viewing them in their profile settings.

Hope this helps.

I've modified the forum so that you can add your fuel economy stats so it appears next to each post:
