Off Topic (Non-Honda) / Re: sunglasses for driving
« Last post by RichardA on Today at 11:21:36 AM »
does anyone use glasses with photochromatic lenses for driving in the Jazz , do they work ok ?

I was thinking of getting a pair but the opticians have advised they don't work too well behind some car windows due to the glass absorbing  UV.

I have a pair of polarising glasses but they don't work well, turning the car and mobile phone lcd screens very dark !

I've had these on my perscription for over 20 years and they don't go dark when driving. I've also had perscription sunglasses but they make the backlit dials on the later Mk1s too dark.

I must check the paperwork

My jazz replacement under bonnet wiring loom damaged by mice is £2700 for my insurance company so hi tech is expensive when it goes wrong …for whatever reason !

So if the premature failure of the brake simulator isnt a manufacturing defect then its therefore an engineering design failure .. arguably worse from hondas perspective as it makes them more liable .blaming the defect on the sub contractor who makes the part removes the stress from honda . Failures have occured at low mileages and no one has yet covered distances aporoaching 100k in a mark 4 jazz - it doesnt appear to be failure after x thousand presses of the brake pedal so nothing is wearing out as such .

Interestingly, the part is failing after under less duress than a standard cars braking system.. as we all know that the regen system allows you to drive smoothly WITHOUT using the brakes as much.
Could it be that the part is more likely to fail with lack of use (eg like a/c) and is seizing up? It seems odd that low mileage cars seem to be affected.

For me, the bottom line is that we have a defective part which is a ticking time bomb

Each day, as I approach 3 years of ownership, I go out to the car not knowing if I will be driving today

Honda, knowing the problem, should be fixing this

If the replacement cost was a few hundred then I doubt there would be as many complaints but when they want up to £3k it leaves a very nasty taste

This is also true about the 1 litre 2017/2018 Civic that has a pseudo rubber timing belt that runs in oil and is failing, either snapping or shredding prematurely often causing up to £16k worth of damage
Honda have issued a recall but the range of VIN does not cover all affected vehicles

Honda Jazz Mk1 2002-2008 / Over heating please serious help
« Last post by Takumi.86 on May 04, 2024, 11:51:02 PM »
I have a 2005 honda jazz 1.3 idsi in middle east, I have a serious problem need help as the mechanics here are noob. Please help!!!

I had a overhearing problem with my jazz it reached 120 degrees i shut the engine immediately, then filled coolant and drove to mechanic, had the small vaccum pipe leaking the steel one which goes over the intake. Then i removed the thermostat i did a delete on it idk i taught it was the thermostat, soon my radiator fan stopped working i could not find the issue so they made it run always. Car was okay for some days. Again i had a small leakage i cant figure out from where. The problem i encounter now is so strange " car stays cold for long when starts after a 25km run was heating, I shut the engine before it vouched 105 degrees and waited for 10 seconds turned the engine on and car was fine dropping temperature from 103 to 74 and then drove back hom 25kms and before I reach home had the same issue but i killed the engine before it reached 103. And once my car was at 98 i opened the radiator cap while the car running topped it up with water and waited for long but temperature did not go down from 98 it should stay at 80 as no thermostat and fan running all the time waited for 5 mins still same after 1 min of driving started dropping the temperature and went to 74 and my sensor seems fine as i know car feels different when over 100 degree Celsius. My mechanic states that i have a bad head maybe the reason for it. Also after 10 hours of sitting when i open the radiator cap without starting the car there is a strong hissing sound of releasing pressure from radiator, also my reservoir is not used stays full the whole time. Please i need help as headgasket is a big work
