« on: March 11, 2014, 05:44:43 PM »
Hi All, new to site so if this is in the wrong forum apologies..I have a 2008 1.4 vtech 36000 miles ,when you slow down and the gearbox goes from second to first, there is quite a clunk and jolt ,is this a common fault with easy fix and cheap or I am looking at throwing a lot of money at the car..the rest of the gear changes are normal.does it in auto and if I use the flappy paddles

regards Shell.

Hi,
I had a similar problem but there was no "clunk" just a severe deceleration at approx. 20mph when coming to a stop by just taking my foot off the accelerator. If I braked hard it did not happen. I could ease it by flicking the paddle change up as I was coming to a rest. Put up with it for three years and I have just changed to an ES plus. The problem has mostly gone away, it is there very slightly and only occasionally but not as bad as before. I will just get used to it. However there was never a "clunk".
