Engineering lessons in school.

My engineering lessons had me making a fish slice and a Dutch hoe. Things seem to have changed.

We helped make a go-kart but never got to drive it,  IIRC it had a Villiers 2 stroke motorbike engine.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

The school I went to to do my final year (school in my town only took you up to 15 then you left and got a job), had a large heavy bike with a motorised wheel, standing in the back of the Mechanics class (theory - moments of forces and inclined planes - not practical with spanners), and I always wanted to get in about it.
Something along these lines.

Looks like a BSA Winged Wheel, about 70cc if I remember correctly and I note the bike folded up for transport in a car or similar.
I had. Minimotor add on, which was a 50cc 2-stroke engine, with it's drive pulley, pressing on the rear tyre.
I remember making various pulleys with different type of knurled finishes, to improve the friction properties between the pulley and the tyre, guaranteed to rip the tyre to shreds in no time!!!

That is the BSA Winged Wheel. No idea what the school one was, but the engine was in the wheel, like the BSA.
