My favourite off ramp.
« on: February 17, 2021, 06:48:16 PM »
This is the off-ramp/link between the M9 and the M90, a few miles south of the Queensferry Crossing. My wife braces her feet against the centre tunnel and hangs on. This run was a bit more sedate than others as the road conditions were not excellent. It is always better if there is a car in the outside lane or behind me. In the summer you can get the speed up and the tyres chirping. The secret is to keep as close to the rumble strip as possible as the outside of the lane is pitted and rough with HGVs.

What a bend, I would love to try that with both a car and a motorbike!

Lane 1 used to be the hard shoulder, and lane 2 was lane 1 with lane 2 even wider. Then they installed another carriageway so that eastbound traffic from the M9 could join the M90.

Today it was nice and dry. As the video starts, there is a car coming up in lane 2, and just as the road starts to turn, his nose is alongside my door. Watch to the end and see how long it takes him to catch me back up!

I came off the ramp today; it was dry, and just as the curve started, a guy pulled out to overtake—a red rag to a bull.
I floored it, and the next thing I knew, my wife was about sitting in my lap. I hadn't realised she was texting on her phone, and she had no idea just where we were.
I said I would get her a 5 point harness!
