Title: M.O.T Fail "Suspension rod ball joint dust cover" Nearside front?
Post by: zywiec515 on November 07, 2019, 08:11:08 AM
I just made M.O.T on Honda Jazz 2010 1.4 EX and got something like that
M.O.T Fail "Suspension rod ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt Nearside Front [ 5.3.4 (b) (ii) ]
Anyone know which part is it? I know its passanger side. I checked ball joint and track rod end ball joint but they seem to be ok.
Thanks for advise

Could also be either of the ball joints on item 8, anti-roll bar drop link.

There's no other ball joints with rubbers - track rod end, bottom ball joint and droplink. That's it.

Thanks for all answer. I checked all ball joint from diagram 1 and 2 and ati roll bar link both sides and probably i'm blind. For me there is no cracks or any damage which allow dirt to come in. I will go to M.o.t centre and will ask them what's going on? :D

I came back from M.o.t centre and what happen they put "wrong" side on paper. It was droplink ball joint on offside not nearside.
So next time best practise is to check all car sides  ;D
I hope they done it by mistake.
Problem solved.
Thanks for all help .

Jacek

This is pure co-incidence but I was looking at the DVLA website to track my first Honda Jazz - a 2010 1.4 EX - that car failed an MOT a couple of years ago with exactly that problem. Wording exactly the same.

The descriptions are now "Menu" items, hence the exact wording. The days of the tester writing it on your fail slip are long gone.
