... especially when you consider that 4 of the checks are counting how many wheels it's got.

Very wise words, a large pinch of salt. I could write a lengthy essay on the poor standards of prep I've experienced at main dealers over the years.

I think car sellers work on the principle it is cheaper to skip the inspection and prep work and just deal with any complaints... All those 100 point checks etc are just marketing guff.

Yep. In fact, that is largely the approach of too many industries, sad to say, including the medical profession. It is simply a numbers game where insurance is the chief hedge. Trouble is, there are ticking bombs in too many corners and the financial world is the worst culprit of all.
