We have made it a habit to ALWAYS do this when we leave the car. Day and night, even in our garage, where it is really safe behind a barrier and twice a steel door.
That seems very exaggerated, so why? Just to make it a regular habit so that you never forget!

I do the same, even though it's garaged and there is no method of opening the garage from the outside once the garage electric is off, I play safe.
