By purchasing a Honda Jazz instead of (for example) a Toyota Yaris you have almost 100% prevented your vehicle from being stolen.  :D

Anyone with the knowledge to steal a Mk4 Jazz  would already know it has a Honda tracker  , but wouldnt know if its currently activated.   I cant see many insurers giving a discount for duplicating what it already has.
And however expertly  a third party Thatcham system   its fitted  there is  an increased chance of  electronic gremlins.

If the car is stolen to strip for spares  they  will probably have it stripped at a remote location thats not traceable to them before you even know the car has gone.  I,m not sure i'd want whats left of that car back anyway.

I'd save your money.  Make sure your insurance is 100% accurate. (I have a garage  ,but its cluttered and in reality the car is normally on the driveway overnight  - so thats how I insure it. )

And take precautions to prevent it from being stolen by someone electronically cloning your keys.    Either habitually disable the keys manually  every time you park   , or keep them shielded in a Faraday bag.

Honda Jazz Mk1 2002-2008 / Hello guys I need help please
« Last post by cris on June 22, 2022, 11:45:51 AM »
Hello, I am new here, I have a 2002, Honda Jazz, 1.2, IDSI, MT with 200k km and I have the following problem:
After  10 minutes of driving it starts to misfire/jerk like 2 or 3 times when I vary the gas pedal or I keep the gas pedal steady and the car encounters more load, I mean a hill or something like that. After a longer period of driving the engine stalls and I get P0336, Iíve gotten before P0300+ all four cylinders but that went away with a new EGR valve . The sensation is like the loss of power. The car would do this after 5 hours of continuous driving about 3 years ago, and since then it would take less and less time, from startup for it to misfire/jerk/stall. The car is also undriveable when I start the A/C it just stalls when I press the gas pedal. And this year then didnít pass emissions inspection due to unburnt hydrocarbons.
Iíve tried 6 different mechanics and havenít found the problem.
Things changed and checked regarding the problem: 4 years ago replaced timing chain, tensioners and guides  at 150k, 2 years ago oem spark plugs all 8, engine and transmission mounts, did a valve adjustment, 1 year ago replaced the fuel pump and sieve, replaced a bad alternator which was putting out 14.5V, oem EGR valve and gasket, used injector cleaning additive, changed the battery, oem crank shaft position sensor and checked the cable and connector at the sensor end, did a relearn for the sensor, it has  a good cylinder compression, checked for vacuum leaks around the mass air flow sensor and intake manifold  with carb cleaner, it burns about 1L of oil every 20k, I usually use 100 octane gasoline with not much difference from 95.
The car is becoming undriveable quick and I donít know where to go next or what to check. Mechanics donít really help where I live, they donít check they just ``change parts by ear``. Sorry for the long post.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Adaptive Cruise Control

I've had cruise control on cars for years.

Me too...

This one just seems fiddly and when doing 70 mph I am reluctant to spend much time staring at the display and fiddling around.

After some 10 months I switch on ACC "blindfolded" (I mean without looking... I don't drive blindfolded).  8)
Talking about fiddling: our previous car had a separate "stick" to operate the cruise control, nicely hidden under the steering wheel...

I agree.

My trade in for the Jazz had adaptive cruise control that was radar based - I never had an issue with it at all.

Simple big buttons on the steering wheel too.

Thanks for the tips.  I am certain that I am not in B mode when doing this and I think that if you are in B mode the car does alert you to the fact that you can't use cruise control.

The onboard telematics always knows where the car is and you can see that in the App

Free for the first year then subscription based. That'll give you time to decide.

I collect my EX tomorrow and am considering having a Thatcham rated tracker unit fitted.   Has anyone had one fitted to their Mk.4 and if so, two questions;

What make?

Did it make a difference to your insurance premiums?

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Ownerhip Confirmation email
« Last post by sportse on June 22, 2022, 09:28:09 AM »
Iíve had it several times, the app will ask for it every few months to confirm ownership.

FYI basic telematics is free for the first owner of a new car, but you have to pay £30 odd a year for the travel update that records your mpg for trips.

Also FYI, the second owner onwards will be paying £80 a year for basic plus travel!

I found this out when my telematics unit managed to delete itself and reset (supposed to be impossible unless you plug in a Honda dealer computer, but mine did it)

Luckily after a few days the dealer managed to convince Honda that I was the first owner and restore the remaining balance of my subscription.
