Space saver tyre? Which size is needed?
« on: July 31, 2019, 08:18:35 AM »
Hi everyone

As we know the Jazz MK3 (mines 2016 SE) doesn't come with space saver tyre. I really don't want to pay £100+ in the dealership...

I'd like to buy a used one and I know it should be 15inch but what else do I need to consider? As my 15inch alloys have 4 nuts the saver should have 4 and anything else to factor in?

Would the attached be ok?

Size of this tyre: T125/80D15 95M

Thanks!

Are you sure your wheels have 5 nuts?  I have the same model, with 4 nuts, as with all Jazzes I thought.

Just looked at Cox Motors for spare wheel for Jazz Mk3 & MK2 all wheels shown are for four studs.

Agree never seen any Jazz with 5 studs. Five stud wheels not commonly used on light cars like Jazz, normally used on C segment and above due to extra weight of vehicle and larger wheels.

If you're planning to buy a spacesaver without the full Honda kit, make sure you know how you plan to support the boot floor.  There's lots of suggestions in this forum - put "flimsy boot floor" into the search box.

There is room for a full size 16" 185/55 spare in the wheel well of MK2 Jazz (assuming wheel well is same size on MK3 but you can try one of your existing full size wheels in there or just measure it )  my wife has one and then you don't need to worry about the floor of boot collapsing - you can also get a steel wheel with 175/55R15 tyre and rolling rad is the same as 185 tyre.    You will find Rover wheels fit the Jazz as same stud PCD and offset ( ET ).  I would rather have a full size spare any day ( having used a spacesaver a couple of times it is not an experience I want to repeat ).

Plenty threads on here about spare wheels... do a search

From handbook spare has either a T135/80D15 99M  -or- T135/80D15 100M tyre on 15x4T wheel regardless of spec of car ... managed to get a used original Honda space saver via dealer I bought car from

This is exactly what we've just done, bought a full size 16" wheel, it means that we don't need to rush to get the flat tyre fixed or compromise our driving using a spacesaver. But it seems a full size 16" weighs a lot more than a steel space saver wheel?

Me too. I found the ride much better with the "extra" weight in the boot. I say "extra" because I suspect the car was originally designed to have the weight of a full size wheel in the spare wheel space.
