Title: Eml on code p0638 showing
Post by: Neilsjazz on March 12, 2019, 01:52:22 PM
Hi guys.
Jazz 2007 1.4 dsi Eml lights keeps coming on and going off. A friend plugged it into diagnostics scanner for me and come up with above code. Any ideas what this could be?

Has happened to someone here before https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=4937.0 (https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=4937.0) it's to do with the throttle body. An internet search suggests it could just need cleaning - given your problem is intermittent - though someone had a broken wire.

There is a wire in the loom ( which is a bit short and gets stressed at certain points ) - a yellow / green colour.. you need to take some tape off the loom to find it,  may just be broken internally ( just the copper ) and not show as broken pvc sleeve of cable.

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. Was ready to scrap the car. Thought throttle body or engine was knackered cuz the radiator had blown and the car had overheated. Quick look for this said wire and bingo. This is the 2006/07 Honda Jazz too btw so this design fault seems to stretch a good 4 years. SM56 reg. Car running beautifully now.
