jazz 2004 gearbox bearings
« on: July 26, 2020, 12:42:00 PM »
hi to all ,
I browsed this site on march this year, found a link to a recommended engineer/garage who knew the problems with the gearbox bearings etc. Stupidly I can no longer find the thread. or where I jotted down the contact details-name.
all that i am able to remember is that the garage was somewhere around Doncaster- Cleethorpes area....  I do remember that he offered a pickup and collection from the local train station!
If anybody can remember it would be very much appreciated.
Cheers Sam

I'm not far from that area, and know it quite well, but I can't remember anybody mentioning anybody around here. Could be before my time, though.

The place I hear mentioned most on here is the one Jocko used, up in Glasgow, who split the gearbox in situ. With the gearbox out on the bench, a full bearing kit is a straightforward enough task for any gearbox specialist, but getting the gearbox out is a job in itself and consequently bumps up the labour costs considerably.

There is a gearbox thread in the FAQs here, not sure if there you will find anything in there?

Thankyou for your time taken to reply.

No problem. Sorry I can't be of more help, just posting so you don't think you're being ignored... maybe someone will come along later with some ideas.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.  8)

Just for the record I have been driving about for about 35,000miles with noisy gearbox bearings.  ;)
