Insurance Groups
« on: July 06, 2015, 05:43:09 PM »
The Jazz ES and ES Plus seem to be in a much higher Insurance group than other competitors.
The ES is Group 16 and the ES Plus is Group 19
The Nissan Note seems to be between Group 7 and 10.
Some Civic models are Group 19.
I hope that the new models are not going to be in higher insurance groups, they shouldn't be with the added safety features.

Hi, Insurance groups were changed recently (ish), what seems a higher group could well be lower under the new system, when we bought our jazz 2012 EX CVT a few months ago we got a refund from our insurer as it was in a much lower group that our old Renault Modus 1.6 Automatic.
Why not get another email address, just for the information being sent to the new one, this will stop junk on your existing email. Once this is done go to some of the comparison sites to get quotes for insurance.

I have never known, what group my car is in! I always change insurers, every couple of years.

Swapping from an 18 month old Yaris TR auto, to my new Jazz ES+ auto. (The same, comparable cars). Earned me a refund of £10.84. Nice!  :)

This site shows all the groups for the Jazz!

Don't understand why the ES+ should be the only one in 19, the highest group?

Thanks for the link, Geoff!  ;)

Wonder if it's the, "more desirable" wheels?  ::)

Hmmm, wheels are exactly the same as my previous EX bought 3 years ago. The spare I acquired for the EX is now my spare for the ES+!

The highest group is group 50. The groups used to be 1-20, but now its 1-50.

So on the new system a group 19 is the equivilent of the old system group 8.

Hi,
Due to things like advances in vehicle safety we normally see that in most cases newer vehicles tend to have lower insurance groups than their comparable previous models.
Regards,
Dan.

None of this explains why the higher specced EX & ES has a lower group than the lower specced ES+. The ES+ only has cruise control over the ES! (I think)

I had a nice refund from my insurance company when I changed from my 2006 (BMW) MINI Cooper Park Lane which was group 22 to my current 2011 'EX CVT Jazz, over £100 IIRC ;D
My Land Rover is group 23 but on a specialist 4x4 policy with a mileage restriction so it's reasonable.
