Pikes Peak
« on: July 19, 2018, 10:13:34 PM »
I have been fascinated by Pikes Peak for years. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, it is a US hill climb, which has been going since 1916. It is held on Pikes Peak, in Colorado, and is 12 and a bit miles, up a mountain. Up until 2002 it was a dirt track, but it has now been paved. Every thing from bikes and rally cars, to SUVs and Nascar motors.
I have competed many times, on my Xbox, and have still not learned the 156 turns. It starts at over 9,000 ft and climbs over 4,000 feet.
For a fair amount of time the record was held by Sebastien Loeb,in a Peugeot 208 T16 but this year Volkswagen and Romain Dumas have set a new record.
With 1,000 ft drops it is an epic race.
All three videos are worth a watch.
