Following a similar thread on the oldest, low mileage Jazz, I am curious as to high mileage Jazzs. My hybrid Jazz has just clocked up 26500 miles and is 11 months old, so should get to 28000 miles in its first year.
I am certain that it will get to 100,000 miles no problem, but how much further? Has anyone taken a Jazz to 200,000 miles, in my case that would be around 7 years :o :o
As long as the car stays reliable I will hold on to it, I am willing to change the hybrid batteries in the future, as long at the rest of it is going well, this could be a record-breaker !
-
Slightly off-topic, but there was an article in the Honda owner's magazine around 2004 where someone had clocked up at least 100k in an original-shape Insight since 2000 (i.e., four years). I remember reading Honda being very impressed.

Currently I`ve 103804 miles in the clock and on the 1st of September the car will be 10 years old.
Last year 27.03.2011 the clock was on 65907 miles.
Lately I`m driving less again ~14000 miles annually.
-
Our Jazz has 102,000 + miles on the clock as it was a Royal Bank of Scotland company car from 05 to 08.When we got it in April 08 the clock was showing between 65 and 70k.

Off 'Jazz' topic but interesting IMO. Sometimes, I wonder how long our cars'd last if looked after well and always driven sympathetically.
Who's heard of the almost 3,000,000 miles 1968 P1800 Volvo - amazing, eh? I've read elsewhere the owner claims that Volvo have never given him any 'special support.' The guy bought the car new, I think, and just takes good care of it.

And this one is great, too. 500,000 miles in a Mercedes G-Wagen over 23 years travelling the world. Fantastic story!

Not a Jazz but in the 1980's I had a Honda Ballade. I sold it to a friend's wife and she has it still. It has done
405 000km and never had anything done to the engine. The only expensive repair were the lift-up headlamp covers
-
My 07 will hit 50k later this week. I purchased it brand new in July 2007.
-
I had an '04 Jazz s that we bought in June '07 on 63 686. I had it up to 171 000 miles when someone shunted me at the end of November. i am heartbroken that it was written up and gutted that insurance companies no longer allow you to keep your car. i didn't even get to kiss her goodbye :( she served us well and would have lasted so much longer. the clutch went at about 130 000 miles, and she got a major service from Honda at about the same time. since then she got her regular oil changes. the egr valve was dodgy from about 90 000 miles and got slowly worse over time but it was manageable; it juddered a bit at a crawl and i planned to sort it out soon, but alas... Just bought an '03 se on 98 518. I'll see how far i can get this one!
-
I am encouraged by some of these responses as I have just pushed my daughter into buying a 2006 Jazz with 63k on it. It was a bargain price because it had a couple of small bumps in it. My daughter has 2 young children (2yrs and 2 months) and the car seems ideal for her. I just so hope I have done the right thing in persuading her to get this, otherwise I could be in big trouble!

Hello,
I've just registered as a new member having discovered this really interesting and informative website.
I am a driving instructor and purchased my Honda Jazz 1.2 in March 2010. Since then it has covered 88,420 Miles.
Apart from routine servicing carried out by main Honda dealer in Perth it has had, front brake pads replaced, a new battery (replaced under warranty), a new indicator stalk (replaced under warranty), renewed front and rear wipers, renewed tyres and various light bulbs.
There was also a noise from the clutch pedal which was investigated by the Honda dealer and a new pedal box/assembly was replaced under warranty.
I hope that my experience will give an insight as to higher miles ownership of a Honda Jazz and although it may be a 1 owner car it has had many drivers!
-
Our 2002 1.4 DSI has got over 111,000 miles on it and in the 4yrs we have had it (72k when purchased) it has had the following replaced....
1) 4 new tyres (4 part worns before that)
2) Rear brake pipes replaced (cheap fix at local garage)
3) Pollen filter, 8 NGK spark plugs and usual consumables at service points.
4) Front discs and pads
With MOT and and service costs... in total spread out over time... about £550/600 which in 4yrs is nothing for a car of this age.... We had the EGR Valve problem at about 85k, but i took it off and cleaned it and its been fine since.... it's never failed a MOT, had all the underside cleared of all rust and its now been waxoiled so should last many more years yet!! hoping to get a GE at some point like the one i have just sold for my ASX... its been a great buy for what we paid (2.5k with £500 knocked off the 3k asking price for a 97 corsa) the wife loves it... :D
-
My Jazz is currently at 107,000 with no fault to report! touch wood not even the dreaded EGR issue ever ;D
-
9 years old 125000miles and still happy.
-
saw one on ebay 198,672 miles. so 100,000 seems nothing to jazz lol

133k and running OK. Have only just bought it mind....

I am about to move 60 miles up the A1, so my daily mileage will be nearing 300 miles per working day !
Space shuttle mileage ahead !
-
I just thought I would keep this one running . . . . .
My Jazz is about to reach another milestone this weekend, 123456 miles.

These cars are mere striplings compared to this American's Honda Accord!

-
Very impressive, I don't think for one moment I will get mine to a million miles as I have no intention of working another 18 years as a driving instructor, however if the car is willing I might get it to 500k :)
Also bear in mind that half of my mileage is with learners driving :)
-
Hi, I have just passed my March 2006 Jazz CVT on to my daughter. It has been serviced according to the schedule( not all at the Honda dealer). Only thing to break was the AC compressor which was replaced under warranty. Current mileage is 192,302. We now have a 2008 CVT with 56.000 miles on the clock and look forward to many more miles of Jazz motoring!
-
Thats pretty impressive Alan 8)

me too just bought mine 55k on the clock seems a good buy so far

My previous Civic did 185K without a spanner on it, and engine still didn't use a drop of oil between changes (body started rusting, but would have happily put that engine and gearbox in another Civic and carried on). Then I had a GD Jazz, only did 110K in that, apart from a couple of wheel bearings and a new battery no problems with that (not even the dreaded gearbox whine because it spent a lot of time in higher gears), my present Civic only done 50K, so plenty to go yet.
-
My November 2008 (making it one of the earliest) Mk2 is just about to touch 98,000. A Jazz 1.4 EX Sherbert Blue.
The year old Civic 1.6EX (2013) has passed 25,000 :o . It must have been the first Earth Dream Civic in for service and it's had 2 services now.
-
49K before a piston escaped... :( I guess I don't win...
-
I think you have been incredibly unlucky with that issue. Don't break any more mirrors!
-
My 1.4 dsi sport is just short of 147k and still going strong! Full service history and drives lovely!
-
not 'jazz' but......
i used to work for vw & around 1994-95 one of the local garages used to service a vw transporter 'x' reg and mileage was over 300,000 then on original engine!!
in all that time the only 'major' parts it had had was an alternator, starter motor and was religiously maintained with genuine parts...
-
Our 2010 1.4lx has 88k km on it now.
My first car, a 1988 BMW 318i I got it with 330k km on it, sold it with 389k km on it. Didn't use any oil between its yearly services, never had the engine opened for major repairs.
My current 2000 BMW 318i is sitting on 198k km. And just last week the head gasket started blowing. First time it's let me down in 70k Kms.

Just got a Jazz 2003 Sport at 23k miles, but as it goes about highest mileage it is not a Jazz, but my old Vauxhall 1991 Astra 1.7D was at around 400k miles, the body was 90% rust but the engine was cracking never needed a repair, quite simple and powerless, but never lets you down

Literally just got my own 53 plate Jazz 1.4i-DSI SE at 24000 miles and then saw this! Wonder who paid the most, probably me as the car was absolutely immaculate and has all the toys.
My Citroen C3 was just about to hit the 100,000 miles mark when I got hit and the car was written off, (hence the Jazz). I was only disappointed about not hitting the magic 100K rather than losing the car :(. The clutch was almost gone and it had a serious oil leak, couldn't have happened at a better time!

My Jazz is

drives perfect.

Mine had few small dents and small scratches nothing that a paintless dent repair and paste can't fix, but it was cheap

2003 jazz - 360.000 KM , that's about 225k miles?

183000 miles...just bought it. Just waiting to hit 200k

My Jazz currently sits on 112k but hopefully same time next year I hope to have reached the first of your 123..milestone.
Looking forward to also hear someday when you manage to reach 345678 miles if you are really aiming for that..now that would really be something and perhaps a record considering when the first Jazz was launched!
-
Hi ive got a 2012 jazz. 156k miles.
Great car..never misses a beat..ive had every other make of car there is..
This is our third honda..nothing can touch them for reliabilty..they just keep on going..
Only needing consumable parts replaced brakes, tyres etc.
-
I should note here that @Ozzie's Jazz died at 256k miles https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=4978.msg59022#msg59022 .
@Pebblesbarn. Note that the biggest problem with the Mk. 1 Jazz is people stealing their catalysts. There are various threads about this with ideas about how to discourage the thieves.
-
Welcome, Pebblesbarn. You shouldn't have cat issues having a Mk 2. My Mk 1 has now done more than 134,000 miles. Very reliable cars.
-
There was a 02 plate Jazz I read about on another forum some year ago that had clocked up around 300,000 miles. The car was rear ended when it wasn't that old and the owner didn't want to drive it again, so they sold it her husband's employer who used it as a pool car. I think the only fault was the front seats had to be replaced due to wear (it was company policy for some reason that the driver was always accompanied).
-
I’m sure it’s been talked about on here already, but I read about some guy on the Fit Freaks forum who clocked over 500k on his 2009 Jazz, or Fit... he took it everywhere in America it seemed, killed the car by driving through a flooded road. Loads of people on that forum have jazzes with over 200k, seems to be the norm over there.
-
In the US, they drive much greater distances than we do in the UK, and if the car is up to it, then those sort of mileages are no great problem. And the Honda Jazz is certainly up to it. If my body and my car's body last a few years longer, I could maybe get to 200K.
-
If my body and my car's body last a few years longer, I could maybe get to 200K.
Judging by Honda’s reputation I’m certain their reliability and build quality trumps that of our creator! Hope you surpass the 200k !
-
And the Honda Jazz is certainly up to it. If my body and my car's body last a few years longer, I could maybe get to 200K.
That's the problem here, the US climate is generally drier, and far less of that nasty road salt. No reason why a Jazz couldn't do several hundred thousand miles if rust was kept at bay.
-
Slightly off-topic, but there was an article in the Honda owner's magazine around 2004 where someone had clocked up at least 100k in an original-shape Insight since 2000 (i.e., four years). I remember reading Honda being very impressed.
Confirmed, Honda UK took back his 100000 + mile Honda car and offered a new car in return, no doubt it was sent to Japan to be assessed and measured to see how it had fared after the mileage
Actually 100000 miles was trivial for those 2000 year Insights, being entirely engineer-led in specification and construction, in the USA, several exceeded 500,000 miles on original engines and one example almost 700, 000 miles until written of by an accident with a large animal. It was rumoured that Honda purposely subsidised those 2000 year Insights , selling them at a mere 50% of the manufacturing cost
-
I had an original ZE1 Insight for a year or so, absolutely amazing little car. At the time I was commuting from Reading to Derby, it could do the round trip on just over £10 of fuel, this would have been in 2009. As stated above it was obviously very much engineer led, it felt like a very refined prototype, not quite production ready. While it excelled at some things, it was not without fault or quirk. These quirks and the need for more space led me to sell it sadly, however I'm glad I got to own one. My personal record for economy over a decent length trip was 87.5mpg over 106 miles. My Jazz really reminds me of it actually, and thankfully it is devoid of the quirks.
-
What about an engine upgrade ;)
-
Brilliant! I'll share details of another similar project I have still in a day or so, but this very much appeals.
-
Hi,
am new to the forum but this has intrigued me.
I have a 2005 SE Sport, bought brand new and i have clocked up 254,000+ miles so far over the years. No major issues, other than a new starter motor in January this year.
Just wondering if anyone has a higher mileage on their Mk1?
-
Welcome to the forum. Certainly beats me by a mile. 138,605 for me.
-

Thanks for the welcome :) am hoping he will last me a while longer, grown quite attached over the years. Aim for 300k+ perhaps?!

That’s pretty epic! I’m sure you’ll get to 300k easily.

My car is just hitting 100k. Runs perfectly. I'm sure rust will kill my car long before the engine has any troubles.
-
First post so here we go!
I think that I could have a good contender here. While I in no way claim to have the highest milage Jazz, I do have one that is fairly high and has lived a hard life and is a testament to Honda's reliability and build quailty, especially after what mine has been through and how I treat it.
It's a 2003 Jazz with the 1.4 Litre petrol engine in it and it's covered 133k miles, 21k of which I have done in the last 15 months.
Before me it was owned by an older man and did around 9k miles per year, but when I got it it's usage cycle changed dramatically. I bought it as a first car for £900 on the 7th of Febuary 2020 and ever since it's been hammered. My girlfriend live a half hour duel carraigeway journey from me and I used to have that car pinned at top speed late at night and when running up and over Haldon Hill in Devon to see her I would regularly have extended periods of redline running to keep speed in 4th over the hill.
I crossed Dartmoor in the snow from Okehampton to Tavistock and then onto Ashburton for fun with her back in febuary of this year and was up the axles in snow and mud, I suffocated the engine with snow it was so intense and to top it all of I spun out 6 times near Widdon Down near Okehampton.
I used to try and keep up with my friends in faster cars so redlined it a lot, crashed shifted when the gears wouldn't syncronise properly, done more handbrake turns and rollback burn outs than I can remember and it's been used as wrecker to pull my friends RWD cars in the snow by getting all 8 of them to sit on the bonnet to put some weight on the front axle. The car has been abused and it's done a fantastic job so hats off to Honda there as most 17 year old 130k mile cars would have packed up long ago.
The build quality in terms of impact resistance is increadible for such a small car. I had a woman reverse into me and you wouldn't know. I also hit a stag at around 40mph and although the front of the car is twisted and the bonnet is wrecked, the car still works just fine. I have two holes in the bodywork where the stags antlers swung around and smacked the car just below the drivers side wing mirror. I am 6ft tall and I'm not joking when I say his head was just as tall as me plus his antlers where another 2ft or so on top of that. He wouldn't have been light but the Jazz handled it and still works just fine.
My ex-girlfriend's little sister wanted to put the fuel in once on the way to the Beach earlier in the year and I wasn't paying attention and she filled it up with diesel without me realising and I only noticed 2 miles up the road. My fault I know but she was only 8 at the time so I couldn't be angry as shes not to know the differance.
Just to give you an idea of how it is driven, I ruined a set of front tyres in 4500mi.
That car has been through the wars more than a tank in Iraq and it still lives. Like I said, testament to Honda It really is.

Sounds like you’ve been through it all in your Jazz, gives the plots of the fast & furious films a run for their money…
Hope it lives on for a while yet and you defeat more wild animals and destructive kids !

Welcome to the forum @150234
Sounds like you have been on a bit of a mission to try and kill your car! They are built very well.
Part of me is laughing and remembering the stupid things I used to do in cars 30+ yrs ago when I passed my test. Stories I could tell...
The other part of me is full of compassion for your poor little Honda and all the hard times!
Either way, a big welcome to the forum 150234. 8)

Yes, welcome. When I was a young lad my dad bought a car from a mate and I borrowed it that evening and ran the big-end bearings.

You could say that. Half of it is my own doing of course, but a few things were out of my control. Either way, I don't think many brands would put up with such mechanial and physical abuse.

Thank you. :)
I have been on a mission actually, I bought it in febuary in 2020 and said to myself "I will get a few miles on the clock to practice and get used to real world driving then ditch it in may". Turns out I didn't specify which may as a whole year later I still have the damn thing. What was going to be a cheap run around for in town for a few months because a 15 month offroading motorway cruising stunt driving beast.
We have all had fun in our cars, especially our first ones.
Again, thank you for the welcome.

Update on my Jazz:
On Friday night it reached 140,000 miles and it now at 140,135. If, and it is an if, it reaches 142,112 miles then I will have done 30,000 miles which isn't bad for a car that cost me £900 quid in Febuary 2020. It haven't spend 120 quid on MOT work so into total the car has cost me £1020 including repairs and purchase.
30,000 miles for £1020 isn't bad at all.
-
... Just rolled over to 145,000 miles yesterday :)
10 plate ex. Off to pastures new on Wednesday when I pick up the new one ;D
-
173678
-
Currently putting around 1500 - 1800mi a month on the 2003 Jazz and it's going well, but is really starting to show it's age now.
Also, time for tyres soon. At this rate of mileage they aren't lasting long but the vast majority of them are city miles.
-
Update, 143,000 miles was achieved yesterday and it's still going strong. Mighty machine.
-
That's me at 147,000 but it won't get much higher. Not through any failings of the Jazz but because I no longer drive much. Instead of two top-ups a week I haven't needed to put petrol in since September. And that is despite my mpg dropping from 60 mpg to 45 mpg.
-
147,000 isn't bad you know. As for the MPG drop, I am currently averaging 40mpg so think yourself lucky with your 45mpg. I have no idea how you guys do it, maybe my car is just in efficient or just draggy some how I don't know.
There is a signifficant dent in the bonnet which means that it always looks like it's open even though it's latched shut. That probably doesn't help as air is likely causing extra drag and it's probably quite a lot as well as the front of the mk1 isn't to bad for aero as cars go. Even if it increases drag by 10% (easily possible) then that's 4mpg gone already.
I only struggle for mpg at higher speed (70mph is where I get 40mpg) as at lower speed (say 40) it's much more reasonsable. This is what leads me to believe that the extra drag is causing the issue and not something else.
-
55 Reg 1.2dsi = 125K miles. Runs beautifully now that I have had gearbox bearings replaced and new clutch.
