Title: Light version in the trunk
Post by: Wonder on January 22, 2022, 02:41:34 PM
Hi everyone,
a question / curiosity about the light in the trunk.
I have the Executive version car and I have not asked for (bought) any lights in the trunk of the car,
but instead inside the trunk on the left I have a light that turns on when I open the tailgate, is this normal?
Does the car still have a standard light?
Because the question is this,
this code is available in the accessories catalog

1) "08E13-TZA-600 LED luggage compartment lighting" (EURO 55)
or this code
2) "08E18-TLA-G00 2 additional LED spotlights positioned in the lower part of the tailgate." (EURO 170)

What is the difference between the light I have inside the trunk and the one indicated as possibility 1 (EURO 55)?

Or is it possible that it is the same light that was mounted even if not requested by me?

Thanks for the info
(Sorry for the mistakes I used Google translate)

I have code 1 in my car - it was around the same cost - they just replace the normal bulb unit. It gives a brighter light. Every car gets a light on the left as standard, but the normal one has an ordinary filament bulb.

code 2 is usually on the bottom of the tailgate, so it shines directly down on what you are doing as well when the tailgate is open.

There's no need to pay a silly price for an LED bulb for the trunk (or boot as we call it in UK). They are so cheap that you can't buy only one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184611297825. It makes a noticeable improvement compared to the standard incandescent bulb. I'm surprised that Honda don't fit the LED bulb as standard.

See topic in illumination packs re LED from aliexpress giving attached results in photos with charge for £6.44 delivered Scotland.

Fitted the slot perfectly, a little re-alignment of terminals required.

Given there was a post that some third party units are too small I'm going to order the LED unit from my dealer for my next service but fit it myself.

I think the prices for the accessories available includes fitting by the dealer, so they might fit it for free.

That's a good price - I thought it was only available for £50 as an accessory.

£27 fitting is a lot for something that will take a minute or two.

On my Auris I had fitted a LED bulb in the rear myself - it was an easy replacement as it was just a standard size torpedo bulb that had a LED equivalent.

... Just take your original bulb to your local auto factors and they will sell you an equivalent led version for a small amount of cash. £4.50 in my case. A simple 30 second swap over and you're in business  :)
No need to waste time ordering online from abroad!

I know it's too late now but a make and picture would have been useful.

I do have a range of different types of LED's in stock from previous cars interior lights. I have some that are the same fitting but are too big (wide) so won't push in.

I used a 501  / W5W / T10 flat LED bulb similar to the link in my post above. Here's a cheaper option https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294368231167 as you only need one bulb.

Thank you all for the answers and advice,
for a moment I thought they had given me the light in the trunk  ;D.
However, seeing the photos posted, the new LED really makes a big difference in terms of lighting.
Just to understand,
but how do you disassemble the light bulb?
the lamp seems to me closed inside the lamp holder,
do you also have to remove the upholstery?
Thanks for the info.

The whole rectangular unit pops out using a screwdriver blade. The blade needs to go into the edge nearest the rear seats.

You'll probably need a latex glove to get a grip on the existing bulb, I did. Then just pull it out.

Thanks for the explanation.
I was thinking, maybe I'm talking nonsense,
but if the 08E13-TZA-600 accessory is mounted, isn't it included in the price that there are other changes to be made besides the lamp?
Maybe change a fuse or some cables?
or a connection with the control unit?

The 08E13-TZA-600 LED lamp is a straight swap for the standard filament lamp, inserted into the existing lamp holder.
The Honda dealer I purchased mine from mentioned it was just a lamp, rather than a new light fitting, possibly to reduce the shock of discovering the cost for merely a lamp! He stated they’ve been selling quite a few of them. The cost through the parts department is less than the quoted fitted price and no other changes are required. Just replace the old boot lamp for new, as per the procedure described in the owner’s manual.

I've been looking around and Honda now want £42 for the LED lamp.

As posted, there are some available for less than £2 advertised as CANBUS friendly.
