Interesting to see, as the motoring press seemed to universally recommend the SR as the 'sweetspot'. Just shows how much they know their readership. Or maybe this site has a skewed subset of Jazz owners.

I have had my Jazz crossbar 4weeks now and the reason I chose the cross star was because it's a bit higher than the jazz.I had a vw golf previously but the cross star is much more comfortable and the mpg
On mixed driving is 66mpg around town with a gentle right foot I Get more as up to 28 mph it runs on battery I would go as far to say it rates as one of the best cars I have had and believe me I have had lots If I had one problem it would be tuning the radio in  :)

Collected my new EX in Midnight Bluebeam Metallic on Monday 16th November.
So far, very impressed. Particularly like the heated steering wheel and the ability to turn off the key fob as required.

Crosstar.  Purchased in September 2020, but only just managed over 1,200 miles so far due to lockdown. Latest trip was 120 miles each way. Outward was 50/50 on single track A roads and dual carriageway against 30mph headwind and managed 55 mpg staying under 64mph. Sadly the wind died down before the return trip, but still got 69mpg with similar driving style.

My age related move towards the Jazz was from Accord Tourer (2005 to 2015)  CRV (2015 to 2020). Just didn't need the space anymore so economy became a bigger driver. I had ADAS (forerunner of Honda Sensing) in the Accord and grew to love it doing regular long motorway trips, so my CRV was also equipped with Sensing. So far I think the Jazz version works best of the three although I haven't yet driven it in poor visibility conditions to see how it reacts.

The one thing I want to get a handle on is at what point does use of the brake pedal go from purely regenerative braking to friction. I tend to leave the shift lever in the B position except the car won't let you when engaging cruise.

I'm really quite envious of those who have the latest jazz, I have looked at the car at the Dealer,  my old Jazz was valued at £750 trade in, my choice  would be the SE in standard  white,  I just cannot justify replacing my 2006  Dsi with a new car, my old car remains a first class drive, entirely fit for purpose  and  will probably see me out, I'm 66 years of age, retired and travel only 2000 miles per year, no short trips, all lengthy 300 + miles in a day. The Jazz is my ideal car!

Picking up a Crosstar two-tone (in crystal red) next week. Based in Hungary I managed to secure a great deal on a showroom car - with delivery mileage only - which had only been at the dealership for 3 months. It also comes with (basic) 5 year free servicing, with the whole package being just over 20K.

Also, Honda Hungary are simultaneously running a promotion to supply winter wheel sets FOC, comprising of not only 4 Nexon winter tyres, but also 16" alloys to go with them (exactly the same as the standard Crosstar rims - so I'll have two sets in total). Value is just over £1000 retail.

Not sure if the offer is available across Europe, but this site seems to cover 10 countries (excluding UK and France): https://www.honda-parts.eu/

I'll have those fitted from the go, so I'll only be able to try the Dunlop summer tyres from spring onwards.

Way back, from 2006 onwards, I was actually a member of Civinfo run by Pottsy. I recognise Kremmen - who is a wonderful contributor on that site - so I'm looking forward to being a part of this community too. Hello to everyone!

I went for the SR rather than the EX as I didn't want the EX's lower profile tyres which are more expensive to replace, give a harsher ride, are more likely to result in wheel rim damage and increase fuel consumption.  Although not a deal breaker, I also don't like the privacy glass which reduces rear visibility slightly and in my opinion makes cars look as though they are being used by the mafia.  I did however want the EX's reversing camera which was a dealer fit for the SR and cost me half the figure shown in the Honda price list.  I would have liked the EX's blind spot monitoring and door mirrors that automatically fold in when the vehicle is locked but it came as a pleasant surprise when I discovered that the SR's mirrors automatically fold out when the ignition is turned back on.  I didn't need the EX's Garmin navigation system as I intended to use Apply Car Play but so far that has been a bit of a disappointment as it won't support Waze and Google Maps properly but Apple Maps and Android phones are OK.

In the past I've always wished for smaller wheels for just the reasons you describe but I've been pleasantly surprised with this Jazz models suspension.

IMO it's better than the 3 Civics it replaces. Maybe not as good as my IS200 or the 3 Xantias I had, but not far off.

I chose the EX because of the blind spot information and cross traffic monitor. That's also the reason (besides all the "Tupperware") that the Crosstar wasn't considered. I also like a leather steering wheel instead of "plastic".
The 16" rims and tires maybe give a harsher ride than 15", however, comfortable enough for us. For sure clearly more comfortable than its predecessor, a Yaris Hybrid, also on 16". Although I must add that the Jazz was not delivered on the original Yokohama BluEarth tires, but on Vredestein Qatrac all seasons at my request. So, I don't know how it would be on the Yokohamas.

I forgot about the cross traffic monitor.  Yes I would have liked that as well as the blind spot.  I was sorely tempted to go for the EX as it also had the reversing camera so 3 useful extras in my opinion but I couldn't bring myself to pay for lower profile tyres and privacy glass.  I was neutral on the rest like the leather steering wheel, heated steering wheel & seats, Garmin and shiny door mirrors.

I went for the EX because being a low mileage driver now, this will be with me for a while, I would always be wishing I'd got all the toys.

I like the privacy glass, never had it before, saves dipping the mirror. Plus it's .... private.

When I think back, I was doing 30k a year back in the 70's, now, only about 3k a year max.

Picking up a Honda Jazz e:HEV Luxe hybrid tomorrow
This is the only Jazz hybrid sold in New Zealand; the CrossStar and the lower spec Jazz are still 100% internal combustion engine.
The e:HEV is the equivalent of the top specification UK Honda Jazz.
Not sure if the software will be the same as for the UK Honda Jazz

The Luxe version I've seen online is the version I'd have liked.

The black/brown interior looks the nicest of all the interiors I've seen.

NZ also get the black front cup holders that Honda refuse to send to the UK.

My New Zealand Jazz hybrid only comes with a paper manual, no PDF - countries referenced in the manual are New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and Africa so I think my Jazz is the "minor countries of the rest of the world" version.
I will post a list of the major differences to the UK version of the Jazz after I have read the 500 page manual  (I have downloaded the PDF of the UK Jazz)

When picking up my new EX today I mentioned this to the rep. He replied that i) by some margin most of the models they sold were EX  and ii) car magazines rarely if ever recommend the most expensive model in a range as they like to pick out "good value". Also Jazz owners typical demographic may be less price sensitive, the Peugeot branch of the same dealer tended to sell proportionately more of their cheaper models.

Crosstar in red with black roof.
Had it 12 months just had it's first service.
I asked if the heated steering wheel could be fitted and that's a "no".
It's a much better drive than the MK3
I can see it being a family member for some time to come.
No downsides at the moment.

Jazz sr - replaced a 2005 civic which had cat stolen and written off. Great car but front sensing camera failed twice and Honda will not permit fitting new as may be a software problem so have to drive without safety aids and with dash flashing lights on start up!.The 2005 civic never failed in 160,000 miles 2 failures in 3000 miles on this one.

...front sensing camera failed twice and Honda will not permit fitting new as may be a software problem so have to drive without safety aids and with dash flashing lights on start up!.

That's not good enough from the dealer. Whether it's a software or hardware issue is irrelevant, the car's under warranty so they have to fix it. If you've given them a chance to do that, and they can't or won't, then you're entitled to reject the vehicle.

Sorry to hear about the camera failure - I've heard of another one on a Facebook Jazz group.

In their case the dealer said the front cameras were out of stock and not expected to come in for at least a month :(

So they are expected to drive around for over a month with no safety features - and for my EX if it fails, it would mean no cruise control which I use every trip.

Perhaps there are issues with the cameras failing and it's caused a backlog of parts orders?

So, was told 3 weeks ago car would be here end of August. Yesterday, went to dealer and now told another 12 days.
Incidentally, ordered EX Style in midnight blue beam after seeing one in the showroom (sorry, we can't sell you that one). This model had a grey interior. Just out of boredom, I recently used the Honda site configurator to 'build' my car. When it came to the interior, it wouldn't load the images... it actually states black fabric as standard. So, I knew when I ordered the car that all dark colours come with a light interior and the light colours with a black interior. The thing is, I used the 'live' chat on the site and asked what exactly my interior would be. The responder actually told me it would be black!
Have Honda changed their colour/interior matches policy since I ordered beginning of June?

After much cogitating (as I fancied the better stereo and taller tires of the x-star) we went for the standard EX. Having now had it for a few weeks I am very glad we did as I very much appreciate the door mirror blind spot aid on motorways and the rear x-traffic monitoring when reversing. For some reason I don’t think these were available on the x-star at the time. Having had them I would not want to be without in future.

Hi, new to these forums so hello to all. Just today have ordered a new crosstar after having my MK2 Jazz for 12 years and what a car she was, I will actually be quite sad letting her go but I needed the trade in funds.

The crosstar will be my third Honda and the test drive was quite simply excellent. I have never had an automatic car as such so I need to brace a new way of driving.

Having test-driven the Honda Jazz ‘Advance’ car 3 weeks ago, I placed an order and as you might expect, I was very excited about eventually owning one.  I was given August as the expected delivery date.

Two weeks after my initial order and following a courtesy call from my dealership, I checked my paperwork again and realised that an ‘Elegance’ model had been ordered instead of an ‘Advanced’.   Somewhat confused, I returned hotfoot to the dealership to make them aware of this embarrassing situation.  I accept that it was partly my fault for not checking the papers properly at the outset but the young lady who had accompanied me on the test drive must have been aware that the model I had driven which included a satnav was the one I wanted especially as we had discussed the specification.  Unfortunately, the original order had to be cancelled and a new order set up and now I have to wait until probably October (instead of August originally) for delivery.  At least I am now getting a free set of mats as some recompense.

It seems that nowadays, illustrated brochures are not available in dealerships which did provide an opportunity to compare the details of different models. If such a brochure had been available I might have been more aware and familiar with the various model names and this error might not have happened. :-[

Surely she knew you wanted the Advance and was mostly to blame for ordering the Elegance.

It's not always easy to spot these mistakes in the showroom, a lot going on, excitement, price. My salesman read through the order form and all was OK.

I must have been lucky as when I bought my Mk4 in 2022, I used a 56 page brochure that was on display in the main dealer showroom.  I now keep it as part of the car documentation folder.

For those who chose either the Advance or the (Advance) Sport, what was your rationale?
My reasoning for choosing an Advance (only the differences mentioned I cared about):

Advance over Elegance:
- infotainment with built-in sat-nav
- heated leather steering wheel
- blind spot warning with cross traffic monitor
- all windows powered with comfort opening/closing (by key fob)
- folding mirrors (by key fob)
- darkened windows in the back
- not overly more expensive than Elegance

Advance over Advance Sport:
- hefty price tag! (no additional equipment that I'm willing to pay this much more for)
- artificial enginge sound in "sport-mode" (wtf?)
- slightly less fuel efficient according to specs
- slightly less performant according to specs (this is no joke!)
- was not available at time of order  :D

ymmv

I feel the same as you, my personal reason for going with the Advance over the Elegance is mainly the 16" wheels which I feel make a difference on the highway.

On the other hand I'd like to have the drive mode choices that the sport has, but for me this feature alone is not worth the price difference (not to mention the fake noise fiasco)  :D

I am one of the early adopters of the Mk4. An SR in crystal red. With the reversing camera as a dealer fit optional extra; very worthwhile. It was months before I saw another Mk4 on UK roads. They seem quite common now.

My main reservations are: I would like a higher range of adjustment for the driver's seat, which in fact is less than the seat in the Mk2, and no height adjustment for the front passenger seat. (Why?) I also deplore  the lack of a spare wheel, and no dedicated space in the boot even for a spacesaver.

Previously, I had 2 reliable Honda motorbikes, a Mk1 Civic (unfortunately, abused by previous owner, so I had to get rid) and lately we had a Mk2 Jazz that was bulletproof for reliability, and only had the Takata airbag recall. So far, the Mk4 has needed a replacement passenger side door mirror (known fault) and just last week I experienced the total brake failure catastrophe. I am so glad that I paid for the 5 year Care Package servicing and warranty extension. Because of that brake failure, I joined this forum, and put my maiden post on the brake failure thread. I felt the need for solidarity with fellow Jazz Mk4 owners, against the Honda UK apparent unwillingness to provide a comprehensive solution without quibbling.
