I parked this morning with my front wheels turned out (something I try never to do) and I spotted that the inside of the offside front is scrubbed almost bald, outside the first radial tread. The tyre has been on for less than a year and only done 8,000 miles. I will have to get my alignment adjusted and a new tyre fitted. Ba**ocks!

Pretty common on all the Honda cars we have had
don't see why the tracking goes out of alignment so quickly :-\

Of all the cars I have had the tyres on the Hondas (including 3 Jazz and two Civics) have worn perfectly flat and tracking never been a problem (wish I could have said the same for the other makes), and they have all done mega-mileage. Tracking does not normally 'go out' on its own, hard kerbing and potholes are the main culprits (or sometimes the numpties at tyre places messing when they shouldn't).

Its not been kerbing but it could be potholes. Every road has them. I just hope something hasn't failed in the suspension!

I went into Edinburgh city centre today, and as I drove up from Stockbridge, over the half mile of 18th century cobbles (never touched since horses and carriages used them), I thought "wonder what put my tracking out"! It loosens the fillings in your teeth, never mind the tracking. Even worse on the way back down.

Bloody potholes, cost me a blebbed tyre! >:(

Took car to Farmer Autocare, in Kirkcaldy, to have my tracking checked. It was booked in for 08:00 and I arrived a few minutes early. It was pouring rain, as I sat in the car waiting, and a chap came out with a golf brolly, so I didn't get wet on the short walk to reception!
They checked the car over and pointed out that the offside drop link was worn and knocking (see other post). I said I had a new drop link in the boot, so the fitter said he would have to ask the boss as it was not their policy to fit supplied parts. He must have got the okay as next thing I knew they were replacing it.
They then fitted the new tyre and reset the tracking before taking the car out for a short test drive.
When I came to pay my bill I was surprised that they did not charge for changing the drop link, only for the tyre and tracking. I was perfectly happy to pay the £82 that it cost me.
The tyre I asked for was a Yokohama Bluearth ES32. I had done a bit of research and they came up as an all round good mid range tyre. I'll see how I get on with this one, wear wise, with a view to fitting them all round.

Sounds very fair.
Did they say if they found anything wrong with the tracking?

They didn't specifically say what was wrong with the tracking, but the check is free and you only pay if they do something. I have to assume it was off to some extent. Doubt they would rip me off after doing the other job for free! The tyres showed a massive toe out error. Luckily only one was destroyed.

I guess the next question is... has it improved the self centreing at all?
Mine isn't going to win any prizes for self-centreing now, but it was shocking when the front wheels were toed out.

Not noticed a great difference. I am eager to see what it feels like on the new, smooth, M90 sections. That was where I felt things a bit notchy
